Albums

Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.

Before Toto was formed the members of the group played session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggsalbum in 1975 Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in 1976.

Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen quit the group, and they held auditions to choose a new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several demos and tapes from the past to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans, and the band embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live album titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with Toto.
