Current evidence suggests a moderate to high level of certainty in regard to included studies in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Vibratory devices when used in conjunction with fixed orthodontic appliances show significant increase in the rate of tooth movement. These devices can be used by clinicians to reduce treatment duration and patient discomfort.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common form of sleep-disordered breathing with high prevalence and associated co-morbidities. It still goes largely under-reported due to events occurring in sleep and difficulty in identifying predisposing factors.

To perform questionnaire-based screening of OSA-risk in adolescents and study association of OSA-risk with craniofacial and upper airway morphology.

Modified STOP-BANG questionnaire was used for screening OSA-risk in adolescent orthodontic patients (10-19 years) in a government dental hospital in India. Patients were categorised into two groups OSA-risk and non-risk, based on the questionnaire scores, and were subsequently evaluated for craniofacial and upper airway morphology, both on examination and on lateral cephalometric radiographs.

Documented a high prevalence of 14% for OSA-risk in adolescent orthodontic patients. #link# The extra-oral and intra-oral parameters found significantly associated with OSA-risk were convex profile [Odd's ratio (OR) - 3.824], sidentified. The Coronavirus disease or COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. The COVID-19 pandemic is an inciting panic for human health and economy as there is no vaccine or effective treatment so far. Different mathematical modeling approaches have been suggested to analyze the transmission patterns of this novel infection. this paper, we investigate the dynamics of COVID-19 using the classical Caputo fractional derivative. Initially, we formulate the mathematical model and then explore some the basic and necessary analysis including the stability results of the model for the case when R 0 less then 1 . Despite the basic analysis, we consider the real cases of coronavirus in China from January 11, 2020 to April 9, 2020 and estimated the basic reproduction number as R 0 ≈ 4.95 . The present findings show that the reported data is accurately fit the proposed model and consequently, we obtain more realistic and suitable parameters. Finally, the fractional model is solved numerically using a numerical approach and depicts many graphical results for the fractional order of Caputo operator. link2 Furthermore, some key parameters and their impact on the disease dynamics are shown graphically. In this article, for the analysis of Covid-19 progression in India, we present new insights to formulate a data-driven epidemic model and approximation algorithm using the real data on infection, recovery and death cases with respect to weather in the view of mathematical variables. We sought to identify key determinants of the likelihood of provider-patient discussions about smoking and to understand the effects of these determinants. We used data on 3666 self-reported current smokers who talked to a health professional within a year of the time the survey was conducted using the 2017 National Health Interview Survey. learn more included wide-ranging information on 43 potential covariates across four domains, demographic and socio-economic status, behavior, health status and healthcare utilization. We exploited a principled nonparametric permutation based approach using Bayesian machine learning to identify and rank important determinants of discussions about smoking between health providers and patients. In the order of importance, frequency of doctor office visits, intensity of cigarette use, length of smoking history, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, marital status were major determinants of disparities in provider-patient discussions about smoking. There was a distinct interaction between intensity of cigarette use and length of smoking history. Our analysis may provide some insights into strategies for promoting discussions on smoking and facilitating smoking cessation. Health care resource usage, smoking intensity and duration and smoking-related conditions were key drivers. The "usual suspects", age, gender, race and ethnicity were less important, and gender, in particular, had little effect.Cervical cancer mortality is high among Peruvian women of reproductive age. Understanding barriers and facilitators of cervical cancer screening and treatment could facilitate development of contextually-relevant interventions to reduce cervical cancer incidence and mortality. From April to October 2019, we conducted a cross-sectional survey with 22 medical personnel and administrative staff from Liga Contra el Cancer, in Lima, Peru. The survey included structured and open-ended questions about participants' roles in cervical cancer prevention and treatment, perceptions of women's barriers and facilitators for getting screened and/or treated for cervical cancer, as well as attitudes towards adopting new cervical cancer interventions. For structured questions, the frequency of responses for each question was calculated. For responses to open-ended questions, content analysis was used to summarize common themes. Our data suggest that the relative importance and nature of barriers that Peruvian women face are different for cervical cancer screening compared to treatment. In particular, participants mentioned financial concerns as the primary barrier to treatment and a lack of knowledge or awareness of human papillomavirus and/or cervical cancer as the primary barrier to screening uptake among women. Participants reported high willingness to adopt new interventions or strategies related to cervical cancer. Building greater awareness about benefits of cervical cancer screening among women, and reducing financial and geographic barriers to treatment may help improve screening rates, decrease late-stage diagnosis and reduce mortality in women who have a pre-cancer diagnosis, respectively. Further studies are needed to generalize study findings to settings other than Lima, Peru.[This corrects the article DOI 10.1002/advs.201901872.].

Screening services for early detection of patients is one of the important capabilities of the health system with a proper referral system. In the crisis of respiratory infection of Covid-19, screening based on symptoms is one of the key measures. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the telephone-based screening and triage services in the promoted primary healthcare system with regard to the Covid-19 outbreak, in terms of reducing unnecessary referrals to the hospital.

This is a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in two stages on 1,406,635 households during March/April 2020 in Ardabil province for screening and early detection of Covid-19 disease. In the first stage, conducted by trained healthcare providers through telephone, individuals suspected of Covid-19 were identified. In the second stage, the individuals were referred to the second level of service in comprehensive healthcare centers (16- or 24-h centers) for clinical evaluation by a physician.

The results showed that before establishing a screening and triage system for patients in comprehensive healthcare centers, all patients were referred directly to the hospital, while after the implementation of the program, a significant reduction in hospital visits was observed and a large number of patients undertook the care and triage services in comprehensive healthcare centers.

The use of a grading system in referring patients with suspected cases, triage of patients according to symptoms at the comprehensive health centers, and activation of home isolation were the most important factors in reducing the burden of unnecessary referrals of patients to the hospital.

This 'bad side' of mast cells and IgE is so well accepted that it can be difficult to think of them in other contexts, particularly those in which they may have beneficial functions. However, there is evidence that mast cells and IgE, as well as basophils (circulating granulocytes whose functions partially overlap with those of mast cells), can contribute to host defense as components of adaptive type 2 immune responses to helminths, ticks and certain other parasites. link3 Accordingly, allergies often are conceptualized as "misdirected" type 2 immune responses, in which IgE antibodies are produced against any of a diverse group of apparently harmless antigens, and against components of animal venoms. Indeed, certain unfortunate patients who have become sensitized to venoms develop severe IgE-associated allergic reactions, including fatal anaphylaxis, upon subsequent venom exposure. In this review, we will describe evidence that mast cells can enhance innate resistance, and survival, to challenge with reptile or arthropod venoms during a first exposure to such venoms. We also will discuss findings indicating that, in mice surviving an initial encounter with venom, acquired type 2 immune responses, IgE antibodies, the high affinity IgE receptor (FcεRI), and mast cells can contribute to acquired resistance to the lethal effects of both honeybee venom and Russell's viper venom. These findings support the hypothesis that mast cells and IgE can help protect the host against venoms and perhaps other noxious substances.

Studies have shown that a child's learning in school is affected by several factors, some related to the school environment, others to the home and community while others are as a result of the individual characteristics of the child. This study sought to explore parents' and teachers' perceptions of factors that affect learning of children in primary schools in a rural County in Kenya.

This was a qualitative study that adopted the phenomenological approach. It was conducted with parents and teachers of 7 primary schools in rural and semi-rural areas of Kiambu County in Kenya. Using a researcher developed guide, data was collected using focus group discussion with parents and teachers. The discussions were conducted as follows-four were conducted in English language, two in Kiswahili language, and three were conducted in the local language and all were audio taped. Research assistants also took notes during the discussions. Results were transcribed verbatim and those that needed to be translated into English were translated. In analysis, MA, MM and MT read the transcripts and coded the major themes.

Four themes perceived by both parents and teachers to affect a child's learning emerged. These were; school environment, home, community and factors within the child.

There is need for both teachers and parents to come together and discuss perceived factors that interfere with learning of the children. Those that form a consensus for both groups, means to address them be found for better academic success of the child.
