This study proposes an efficient, facile, and scalable strategy to synthesize in situ heteroatom-doped porous graphene via laser direct writing on the precursor-doped polyimide (PI) film, which is fabricated for the first time through incorporating PI powder and precursors with sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) binder by a drop-casting and low-temperature drying process. The resulting microsupercapacitors (MSCs) based on the as-prepared heteroatom-doped porous graphene exhibit remarkable capacitive performance. The typical boron-doped MSC prepared on borax-doped polyimide film possesses an ultrahigh areal capacitance of 60.6 mF cm-2 at 0.08 mA cm-2, which is approximately 20 times larger than that of undoped MSC. Furthermore, the boron-doped MSC has impressive cycling stability (with the capacitance retention of 96.3% after 20 000 cycles), exceptional mechanical flexibility, tunable capacitance, and voltage output through arbitrary modular serial and parallel integration. Besides, the nitrogen-doped porous graphene with excellent capacitive performance is also prepared by laser direct scribing on the sulfonated melamine-doped polyimide film, demonstrating excellent scalability and generality of this strategy. Hence, one-step laser direct writing on precursor-doped polyimide films can realize in situ heteroatom doping and generation of hierarchical porous graphene electrodes simultaneously, which opens a new avenue for the facile, cost-effective, and scalable fabrication of heteroatom-doped porous graphene, thus promising for MSCs and various flexible and wearable electronics at large-scale production.Dynamic therapy, such as photodynamic therapy (PDT) or chemodynamic therapy (CDT), is one of the most promising therapeutic strategies for tumors. Integrating the advantages of near-infrared-induced PDT and CDT can potentially improve the therapeutic performance. A single primitive nanostructure, CuWO4 nanodots, was developed. It could generate reactive oxygen species under 808 nm light irradiation and release copper ions into the acid tumor microenvironment, thereby boosting Fenton-like reactions. The PDT and CDT would occur when the nanodots were introduced into the tumor tissue and irradiated under 808 nm light. The results of combined PDT and CDT antitumor studies showed the effective inhibition of tumor tissue growth, thereby suggesting that the nanodots are candidate agents for synergistic antitumor applications.Aim Marked neutrophilia and omphalitis in an infant resulted in the diagnosis of the first case of leukocyte adhesion deficiency type 1 (LAD1) in Ireland. Diagnosis LAD1 requires specific molecular diagnostics for its correct identification. BI-3406 research buy Results Early identification of this disorder allowed for rapid referral for haemotopoeitic stem cell transplant which has resulted in an excellent outcome for this patient. Conclusion The identification of a previously unknown ITGB2 mutation resulting in LAD1 in Ireland should alert physicians to the diagnostic possibility of this extremely rare disorder.

This is a descriptive observational study.

The objective of this study is to analyze and document the sagittal alignment of the spine and pelvis in normal Indian adult volunteers and compare these parameters with the study population of other races and ethnicities.

Given the importance of the spinopelvic parameters, there is a need to describe the parameters differentially in relation to the ethnicity of the studied individual. Very few reports have defined the normal physiological value. Ethnic differences are a significant factor not only when describing the anthropometric data but also when applying the findings to a different ethnic group. We have compared these values with other races and ethnicities so that we can know whether the principles of spinal fixation can be applied globally.

In total, 100 participants were studied by using their anteroposterior and lateral radiographic images of whole of pelvic and spinal area. Additionally, various spinal and pelvic parameters were also measured. Subsobtained can be considered as the physiological normal values for Indian population. Importantly, these values can serve as the reference values for future studies.

There is a statistically significant difference between Indians and other races/ethnicities and population groups with respect to TK, LL, and sacral translation. The values obtained can be considered as the physiological normal values for Indian population. Importantly, these values can serve as the reference values for future studies.

Prospective, randomized study of 100 patients with prolapsed intervertebral disc with an average of 12- to 18-month follow-up postoperatively.

To compare the role of Gelfoam and autologous fat in the prevention of postoperative epidural fibrosis (EF) after lumbar spine surgery.

EF is a possible sequelae of lumbar disc surgery. Different treatments and surgical strategies have been attempted to prevent postoperative fibrosis without providing consistent long-term results.

The study was conducted on 100 adult patients. The patients were randomly allocated into two groups of 50 patients each group A, autologous fat group, and group B, Gelfoam group. The postoperative follow-up was conducted at intervals of 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months. Both groups were evaluated clinically (Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire [ODI], Visual Analog Scale [VAS], Straight Leg Raising Test [SLRT]) and radiologically (using Ross grading by contrast magnetic resonance imaging [MRI]) for development of and hence radicular pain.

Retrospective cohort study.

To determine whether implant density impact three-dimensional deformity correction in posterior spinal fusion (PSF) without Ponte osteotomies (POs) for patients with Lenke 1 and 2 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).

Currently, the optimal pedicle screw (PS) density for flexible moderate-sized thoracic AIS curve correction is still controversial. There are limited data regarding the impact of implant density on three-dimensional correction in PSF without the use of PO for thoracic AIS surgery.

A database of patients with AIS with Lenke 1 and 2 curves treated with PSF without PO and instrumented with PSs and ≥2-year follow-up was reviewed. The preoperative, immediate, and final follow-up postoperative radiographs were analyzed. The correlation between PS density and the following factors were determined major curve correction (MCC), correction index (CI; MCC/curve flexibility), kyphosis angle change, and rib index (RI) correction. Then, patients were divided into low-densi without PO.

This study revealed no significant correlation between screw density and curve correction in any planes. HD construct may not provide better deformity correction in patients with flexible and moderate thoracic AIS undergoing PSF without PO.

Cross-sectional study.

To evaluate sagittal balance, pulmonary function, and spinopelvic parameters in patients with healed spinal tuberculosis with severe thoracic kyphosis.

Deterioration of neurological function is an absolute indication of surgical intervention in severe post-tubercular kyphosis, but the relationship of compromise in lung function and spinal alignment with severity of kyphosis is still unclear.

Twenty patients (age, 14-60 years) with healed spinal tuberculosis with thoracic kyphosis >50° were included. Lateral-view radiography of the whole spine, including both hips, was performed for assessment of kyphotic angle (K angle), sagittal balance, lumbar lordosis, and spinopelvic parameters. Pulmonary function was assessed by measuring the forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), and their ratio (FEV1/FVC) by spirometry.

A positive correlation between severity of kyphosis and sagittal imbalance was noted, with compensatory mechanisms maintaining the l imbalance and a markedly affected pulmonary function. Such patients should be offered corrective surgery if they are symptomatic and medically fit to undergo the procedure. However, whether the surgical procedure would result in improved pulmonary function and sagittal balance needs to be evaluated by a follow-up study.

This is a multicenter, prospective study.

This study aimed to evaluate the reproducibility of the walking test for patients with lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS).

Walking test is one of the useful procedures to investigate cauda equina syndrome with lumbar spinal stenosis. One the other hands, there were few studies to investigate the reproducibility of this test.

In this study, we prospectively examined 70 LSS patients with intermittent claudication symptoms at a multicenter outpatient clinic. A walking test was administered at baseline and week 4 to assess patients' walking distance and lower limb pain and numbness. Immediately after the walking test, patients were asked to use the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) to rate their pain and numbness in the front, back, outside, inside, and hip of the lower legs. The reproducibility of the walking test was evaluated using Cohen's κ analysis and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). Meanwhile, the Swiss Spinal Stenosis (SSS) Questionnaire was used to evaluate the severity of the stenosis.

The walking distance ICC at baseline and at week 4 remained unchanged at 0.7, with acceptable interobserver reliabilities for lower limb pain and numbness in both legs. The average VAS score for lower leg pain was 23.2±25.2 mm at baseline and 27.4±28.8 mm at week 4, while the corresponding average VAS score for numbness was 23.4±26.7 mm at baseline and 24.8±25.2 mm at week 4. The ICC score was 0.7 for leg pain and 0.7 for numbness. The mean SSS was 30.2±5.5 at baseline and 29.2±5.2 at week 4, and there was no significant difference in the severity.

The walking test for LSS has acceptable reproducibility.

The walking test for LSS has acceptable reproducibility.Sebaceous neoplasms are rare adnexal tumors that can present a challenge to clinicians. Only four cases of sebaceous carcinoma with sebaceoma have been reported in the literature. Herein, we describe the case of a sebaceous carcinoma originating from a sebaceoma in a solitary nodule of the posterior neck. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were strongly positive for epithelial membrane antigen and p53. It is possible that adnexal carcinomas may arise from malignant transformation of their benign counterparts as well as de novo. Malignant transformation was likely in this case because the lesion was composed of distinct benign and malignant components, and the benign component showed the typical histopathological features of sebaceoma. This case underscores the fact that partial and superficial biopsies sometimes may not provide the correct diagnosis. If a surgeon suspects malignancy based on a clinical examination, then it is mandatory to perform a deep biopsy.Basal cell nevus syndrome (BCNS), also known as basal cell carcinoma nevus syndrome, Gorlin syndrome, Gorlin-Goltz syndrome, and nevoid basal cell carcinoma, is a rare autosomal dominant disorder with a prevalence of approximately 1/60,000. A lower prevalence rate of 1/13,939,393 has also been reported in Korea. We report the case of a 40-year-old male patient with multiple black pigmented macules on the face that first appeared when he was a teenager. His clinical features of jaw cysts, bifid ribs, and calcification of the falx cerebri were fitting within the criteria for the diagnosis of BCNS. We excised all suspected macules and sent permanent biopsy. Most of the histological examinations of the biopsy samples taken during surgical excision of the face masses showed basal cell carcinomas. Ten months after the surgery, the patient has remained free from symptoms and is undergoing follow-up observation.
