Dual encoding is conceptually simple, practically effective and end-to-end trained with hybrid space learning. Extensive experiments on four challenging video datasets show the viability of the new method.Partial multi-label learning (PML) deals with problems where each instance is assigned with a candidate label set, which contains multiple relevant labels and some noisy labels. Recent studies usually solve PML problems with the disambiguation strategy, which recovers ground-truth labels from the candidate label set by simply assuming that the noisy labels are generated randomly. In real applications, however, noisy labels are usually caused by some ambiguous contents of the example. Based on this observation, we propose a partial multi-label learning approach to simultaneously recover the ground-truth information and identify the noisy labels. The two objectives are formalized in a unified framework with trace norm and l1 norm regularizers. Under the supervision of the observed noise-corrupted label matrix, the multi-label classifier and noisy label identifier are jointly optimized by incorporating the label correlation exploitation and feature-induced noise model. Furthermore, by mapping each bag to a feature vector, we extend PML-NI mehtod into multi-instance multi-label learning by identifying noisy labels based on ambiguous instances. A theoretical analysis of generalization bound and extensive experiments on multiple data sets from various real-world tasks demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.Cochlear implants use electrical stimulation of the auditory nerve to restore the sensation of hearing to deaf people. Unfortunately, the stimulation current spreads extensively within the cochlea, resulting in "blurring" of the signal, and hearing that is far from normal. Current spread can be indirectly measured using the implant electrodes for both stimulating and sensing, but this provides incomplete information near the stimulating electrode due to electrode-electrolyte interface effects. Here, we present a 3D-printed "unwrapped" physical cochlea model with integrated sensing wires. We integrate resistors into the walls of the model to simulate current spread through the cochlear bony wall, and "tune" these resistances by calibration with an in-vivo electrical measurement from a cochlear implant patient. We then use this model to compare electrical current spread under different stimulation modes including monopolar, bipolar and tripolar configurations. Importantly, a trade-off is observed between stimulation amplitude and current focusing among different stimulation modes. By combining different stimulation modes and changing intracochlear current sinking configurations in the model, we explore this trade-off between stimulation amplitude and focusing further. These results will inform clinical strategies for use in delivering speech signals to cochlear implant patients. The present study was done to explore the diversity of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) associated with the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of honeybee species endemic to northeastern Pakistan. Healthy worker bees belonging to Apis mellifera, A. dorsata, A. cerana and A. florea were collected from hives and the surroundings of a major apiary in the region. The 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing revealed a microbial community in A. florea that was distinct from the others in having an abundance of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria. However, this was not reflected in the culturable bacteria obtained from these species. The isolates were characterized for safety parameters, and 20 LAB strains deemed safe were evaluated for resistance to human GIT stresses like acid and bile, adhesion and adhesiveness, and anti-pathogenicity. The five most robust strains, Enterococcus saigonensis NPL780a, Lactobacillus rapi NPL782a, Lactobacillus kunkeei NPL783a, and NPL784, and Lactobacillus paracasei NPL783b, were identified through normalized Pearson (n) principal components analysis (PCA). These strains were checked for inhibition of human pathogens, antibiotic resistance, osmotic tolerance, metabolic and enzymatic functions, and carbohydrate utilization, along with antioxidative and cholesterol-removing potential. The findings suggest at least three strains (NPL 783a, 784 and 782a) as candidates for further in vitro and in vivo investigations of their potential health benefits and application as novel probiotic adjuncts.Critical limb ischemia (CLI) constitutes the most advanced form of peripheral artery disease (PAD) and is characterized by ischemic rest pain, tissue loss and/or gangrene. Optimized medical care and risk factor modification in addition to revascularization could reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events and major adverse limb events, improving patients' quality of life and promising higher survival rates. Adequate adherence to cardioprotective medications, including antithrombotic therapy (e.g., antiplatelets, anticoagulants), cholesterol-lowering agents (e.g., statins, proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors), angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), and smoking cessation should be strongly encouraged for patients with CLI. This review examines these guideline-recommended therapies in terms of cardiovascular and limb-related risk reduction in patients with CLI.Intermittent claudication (IC) is associated with impairments in quality of life and walking ability. Heat therapy is an emerging cardiovascular therapy, which may improve walking in patients with IC. We undertook a systematic review to establish current evidence for heat therapy for patients with IC. We searched five databases (Ovid Medline / PubMed, Embase, Scopus / Web of Science, Cochrane Library and Health Technology Assessment Databases). A total of 6751 records were screened with 76 full-text articles assessed for eligibility. We included three randomised control trials and three acute interventions. selleck compound For chronic interventions, three different heat therapy interventions were used. The 6-minute walk distance significantly improved following whole-body immersion (p = 0.03; ES 0.94, 95% CI 0.06-1.82), but not after Waon therapy or a water-perfused garment. Ankle-brachial pressure indices were significantly improved following whole-body immersion (p = 0.01; ES 1.10, 95% CI 0.20-1.99) but not after other therapies.
