Regarding the potential link between BMD and C1M, we have found three osteoporotic patients and one patient who had high BMD, very close to the HBM phenotype values, although most patients had normal BMD.

Variants in bone related genes have been repeatedly found in some C1M cases. The relationship of bone genes with C1M deserves further study, to get a clearer estimate of their contribution to its etiology. No direct correlation between BMD and C1M was observed.

Now, in the wake of our 50th anniversary, we can say the IB field has reached a certain amount of maturity. In this commentary, I provide the backstory to this year's big win for qualitative methods - the 2021 Decade Award - and discuss how there has never been a better time for the power of richness from case studies, ethnographies, and a wide range of other types of qualitative research to surface and contribute meaningfully to IB theory.

We designed and implemented a pilot introductory narrative writing session with the two-fold goal of fostering the dissemination of faculty writing for submission to peer-reviewed journals and other publication venues while simultaneously creating a framework for establishing collaborative and empathic interprofessional teams by enhancing narrative-related competencies.

The session was open to interprofessional faculty at our academic health sciences center. Participants were accepted via a competitive application process, with group size limited to 18 individuals due to the workshop-style format. Learners were reflective of our diverse campus regarding sex, race/ethnicity, department, rank, and professional role. The session began with an experiential seminar providing instruction on writing theory and practice, discussion questions, and reflective writing prompts. The seminar was followed by a writing workshop. We conducted a mixed-methods evaluation to gauge participant satisfaction and educational effc teams to promote high-quality education, research, and whole person clinical care.

Seminar outcomes suggest that narrative-based education for interprofessional health sciences faculty can be effective in achieving the two-fold goal of enhancing writing competencies while simultaneously fostering essential skills for building collaborative and empathic teams to promote high-quality education, research, and whole person clinical care.

Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) can cause treatment failure and serious adverse drug reactions, leading to morbidity and mortality. Due to their significant effects on the patient's health, community pharmacists (CPs) competence in detecting and preventing these interactions is essential to provide optimal health services. Thus, this study aimed to explore the performance of the CPs in situations involving the presence of potential DDIs.

A cross-sectional, simulated patient study was conducted in 235 community pharmacies in the Khartoum locality. Two scenarios were used to evaluate the performance of the CPs. Ten final year B. Pharm. students were selected to act as simulated patients (SPs); they were trained for two weeks to familiarize their roles. All encounters were documented immediately after leaving the pharmacy by the SPs in the data collection form.

All planned SPs visits were completed, resulting in 470 visits. None of the CPs asked about the patients' medication history in both scenarios. Afterware programs in community pharmacies should be encouraged. In this case study I explored the dilemmas of three early childhood care and education (ECCE) teachers in a poor community in the Cape Flats of Cape Town, South Africa during COVID-19, and how they used these dilemmas to transform their teaching. Purposive sampling was used to select the participants and data was collected through a semi-structured interview and thematically analyzed. Ethical clearance was secured from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Mezirow's transformative learning theory was used as an analytical framework for the study. In particular, Mezirow's concept of disorienting dilemmas was used to engage with the dilemmas the ECCE teachers were confronted with during the pandemic. Further, his concept of perspective transformations was used to analyze how the ECCE teachers engaged with these dilemmas to transform their teaching. Findings show that while ECCE teachers' faced disorienting dilemmas of digital inequity and of children's interactive play, they also adopted alternative roles and actions as they engaged in dialogue and shared negotiations, ensuring that the functioning of the ECCE centre would continue in solidarity with the children and parents. These findings have important implications for how local government provide financial and digital support for poor communities during times of crisis.

There is evidence that patients with posterior crossbite (PXB) have neuromuscular changes in the masticatory muscles. However, up to the present time, the relationship among these changes on the electromyographic activity of the masticatory muscles is still unclear.

To systematic review the available literature on the electromyographic activity of masticatory muscles in adults with PXB.

Between August 22 and September 9, 2020, we searched the following seven electronic databases PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, SciELO, LILACS, and Scopus. No restrictions were applied regarding the language and year of publication. This systematic review was registered in the Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO - CRD42020205057) database and conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. After data selection and extraction, the methodological quality of the selected studies was conducted independently by two reviewers, using twl quality, electromyographic evaluation of masticatory muscles should be considered in the diagnosis and in the orthodontic treatment plan of patients with PXB. Prospective studies with a higher sample size and follow-up time, conducted using a rigorous scientific methodology, are necessary to reach a more reliable conclusion.

Ferroptosis plays a vital role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). CISD1 is known to regulate ferroptosis negatively. However, the correlations of CISD1 to prognosis in HCC and its potential mechanism remain unclear.

To investigate the expression level and prognostic value of CISD1 in HCC.

Gene expression and clinical data for 33 cancer types in TCGA were downloaded from the UCSC Xena platform. Pan-cancer analysis was performed to determine the expression profile and prognostic value of CISD1 in human cancers. GEO datasets and Human Protein Atlas (HPA) were used to verify the mRNA and protein expression levels. The influence of CISD1 on clinical prognosis in HCC was evaluated using a Kaplan-Meier plotter. The PPI network was constructed using the STRING database and Cytoscape. GO and KEGG pathways were constructed using the "clusterProfiler" R package with the FDR cutoff of 0.05. The methylation at the CISD1 promoter was detected using UALCAN and GEO datasets. Halofuginone The correlations between CISD1 and HCC immunndings suggest that hypomethylation of the CISD1 promoter increases its expression in HCC. CISD1 is associated with prognosis and immune infiltrating levels of CD8+ T cells, macrophages, neutrophils, and DCs in HCC patients. These findings suggest that CISD1 can be used as a prognostic biomarker for determining prognosis in HCC.

World Health Organization approved praziquantel (PZQ) as the only chemotherapy to treat schistosomiasis. Over the years, some problems have arisen with PZQ, as it showed poor efficacy in the early stages of infection as well as the emergence of some resistance to it. In searching for new alternative drugs to treat schistosomiasis, the researchers intensified their efforts to find a new drug. The present study focuses on evaluating the effect of three plant extracts Artemisia annua, Nigella sativa, and Allium sativum at different doses of 31.25, 62.5, 125, 250, and, 500 μg/ml; in vitro study was accomplished on the Schistosoma mansoni adult worms. The results declared that the concentration of 500, 250, and 125 of Artemisia annua was more effective on adult worms, and the same concentrations of Nigella sativa and Allium sativum gave less effect on the adult worms than the previous plant. In vivo study was accomplished on the hamster's tissue after exposing it to doses of the plants' extracts with different concentrations; it showed the presence of calcifications and damage to the worm eggs in the liver and spleen, as well as reducing the size of granulomas. After conducting many confirmatory studies Artemisia annua extract can be used as an effective and safe treatment for Schistosoma disease. The internal thickness of the carotid artery is the vertical distance between the intima of the carotid artery and the middle mold. Its normal thickness is less than 1 mm. It can be used to judge the degree of arteriosclerosis. Under normal circumstances, the change of the internal thickness of the carotid artery is caused by cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this article is to study the relationship between the thickness of the carotid artery and the metabolism of calcium and phosphorus, parathyroid hormone, microinflammatory state, and cardiovascular disease. This article uses ultrasound measurement to measure the IMT of ESRD patients and carotid arteries with normal renal function. The analysis includes blood pressure, blood phosphorus, blood calcium, blood creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, blood sugar, glycosylated hemoglobin, blood lipids, parathyroid hormone, and C reaction. The correlation between clinical indicators includes protein and carotid IMT in ESRD patients which can be used in designing a diagnostic plan for patients through correlation research. The results showed that the carotid artery IMT of ESRD nondialysis patients was 13% thicker than that of those with normal renal function, and it was significantly positively correlated with age, blood pressure, blood phosphorus, glycosylated hemoglobin, and C-reactive protein. The correlation ratio with calcium and phosphorus was about 0.1.

Thoracic spine fractures (TSFs) are rarely isolated injuries, and they tend to present with a characteristic set of vertebral and non-vertebral injuries based on mechanism of injury. There is limited research on the rates and distribution of injuries that occur concurrently with TSFs. The purpose of this study is to characterize the distributions of these injuries by region of the body and by mechanisms of injury, so that trauma and spine surgeons can efficiently evaluate and treat patients presenting with TSFs.

We retrospectively reviewed the trauma database records of 683 patients presenting with a TSFs at a single institution from 2015 to 2019. We recorded patient demographics, comorbidities, and associated injuries by body region. We characterized the TSFs using the AO classification system, as well as the presenting physical exam and treatment. All associated injuries among the TSF patients were classified into the following categories head injury (HI), thoracic injury (TI), non-thoracic vertebral injury (NTVI), abdominal injury (AI), upper extremity injury (UEI), lower extremity injury (LEI), and spinal cord injury (SCI).
