There was no statistically significant difference in the prevalence of participants who met the criteria of physical activity among s-ED and non-s-ED group.

Findings from this study suggest that s-ED is more common among municipal employees in rural areas than in other working populations in Sweden. Several health-related factors were associated with s-ED. Regular use of a self-rated instrument in evaluating the organizational and social work environment can identify people at risk of developing exhaustion disorder and requiring long-term sick leave.

It can take years to reach a diagnosis and there is often no suitable therapy. Rare diseases are anything but rare among patients around 4 million people are affected in Germany alone. Nevertheless, rare diseases can often only be diagnosed when they are well enough known and the population is made aware of their existence-this applies to both laypeople and medical professionals. The rather unusual form of imparting knowledge via entertainment television can make an important contribution to disseminate medical knowledge and to raise awareness of medical topics. In specific cases, entertainment television can help to diagnose rare diseases or encourage laypeople to take lifesaving measures, which we try to illustrate in this paper.Series and quiz shows reach more viewers than traditional health programs. They have also proven to be exceptionally effective in student teaching. Since the narrative form focuses on cheering and guessing, instead of simply conveying facts, the medical topics become more emotionally anchored memories and easier to recall. Entertainment television thus offers an innovative approach to increase the health literacy of the population-a potential that could be used more intensively in Germany.

To present a case where following Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) implantation the patient developed toxic anterior segment syndrome (TASS) with a subsequent pupillary block as a consequence of the occlusion of the AquaPORT (STAAR Surgical) flow hole.

Case report and literature review.

A V4c toric ICL (STAAR Surgical) was implanted in the left eye of a 32-year-old woman. After 1 week, the lens was 15° off axis and uneventful lens alignment correction was performed. At postoperative day 1, an intraocular pressure (IOP) of 11 mm Hg and mild corneal edema were observed. At postoperative day 7, there was an uncorrected distance visual acuity of 20/800, an IOP of 44 mm Hg, diffuse corneal edema, and fibrin strands in the anterior chamber. TASS was diagnosed and topical steroids, cycloplegia, antiglaucoma drops, and oral acetazolamide were prescribed. At postoperative day 9, dispersed endothelial pigment with a fixed mid-dilated pupil were identified. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography showed stranJ Refract Surg. 2020;36(12)856-859.].

To describe a case of light adjustable lens implantation after radial keratotomy.

A patient with a 30-year history of radial keratotomy subsequently underwent phacoemulsification with implantation of intraocular light adjustable lenses. Serial refractions were performed at varying hours of the day postoperatively and were repeated for 3 months. The light adjustable lenses were adjusted twice, and the refractive power of the implant was eventually locked.

The patient was able to achieve uncorrected distance visual acuity of 20/25 in both eyes, improving from 20/125 in the right eye and 20/80 in the left eye, with no surgical complications.

The authors report the first case of light adjustable lens implantation after radial keratotomy, which has yielded promising results for mitigating intraocular lens miscalculations after radial keratotomy. [J Refract Surg. 2020;36(12)852-854.].

To determine the volumes altered during photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), and small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism.

The volumes of stromal tissue affected by surgical correction of pure and astigmatic myopia were calculated in this theoretical study for PRK, LASIK, and SMILE treatments. These results were then used to calculate representative values for percent volume altered (PVA) restricted to stromal corneal tissue.

For the same spherical equivalent, there were remarkable differences between the amount of tissue removed between pure and compound myopic corrections. The PVA of LASIK procedures was the largest, whereas the PVA was comparable between PRK and SMILE. PRK had the lowest PVA for low myopic and compound astigmatic corrections and SMILE had the lowest PVA for high myopic and compound myopic astigmatism procedures.

The comparison of volumes of tissue removed and PVA values of different treatment modalities provided in this study may give clinicians an improved understanding about the potential influence of geometrical parameters of those methods on the biomechanics of the cornea. To assess the long-term efficacy and safety of epithelium-off corneal cross-linking according to the Dresden protocol (S-CXL) in progressive keratoconus.

Patients treated with S-CXL from April 2006 to January 2010 at Humanitas Clinical and Research Center, Rozzano, Italy, who completed at least 10 years of follow-up were included. Corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), refraction, and corneal topography and tomography with Pentacam (OCULUS Optikgeräte GmbH) were evaluated at baseline and 10+ years after the procedure. selleckchem The definition of progression after S-CXL was two of the following three criteria increase of "A" value, increase of "B" value, or decrease of minimum thickness evaluated with the ABCD progression display above 95% CI for the post-CXL population.

Twenty-seven eyes of 22 patients were included. At a mean of 11 years of follow-up (maximum 13 years), S-CXL was able to maintain CDVA and induce significant regularization of the corneal surface as demonstrated by a significant decrease of the central keratoconus index (P = .
