f these markers, in addition to exploration of other relevant frailty indices, may help to better prognosticate aSAH outcomes and allow for a precision medicine approach to decision making and optimization of best outcomes.

The irradiation of breast cancer patients with included internal mammary lymph nodes challenges radiation planning with regard to robustness and protection of OARs. In this publication, a feasible hybrid radiation technique is presented with a retrospective dosimetric and radiobiological analysis of patient data of our institute from 2016 to 2020 and robustness analysis.

The proposed hybrid irradiation technique consists of two IMRT tangents and two partial VMAT fields. The retrospective dosimetric and radiobiological evaluation are made for 217patient treatments (right- and left-sided). The robustness is evaluated regarding an artificial swelling from 0.4 to 1.5cm for a random example patient and compared to a pure VMAT planning technique with use of a virtual bolus. The out of field stray dose is calculated for a selected patient plan and compared to alternative radiation techniques.

The coverage D

of the PTV

(with breast swelling of 1.5cm) changes for the hybrid plan from 96.1 to 92.1% of prescrierapy department. The hybrid radiation technique shows a good sparing of the OARs in the retrospective analysis and is robust with regards to a breast swelling of up to 1.5 cm. The slightly higher stray dose of the hybrid technique compared to a pure VMAT technique originates from higher number of MUs and lower conformity.

Malaria is a life-threatening public health problem globally with particularly heavy burden in the sub-Saharan Africa including Sudan. The understanding of feeding preference of malaria vectors on different hosts is a major challenge for hindering the transmission cycle of malaria. In this study, blood meals taken by blood-fed Anopheles mosquitoes collected from the field in malaria endemic areas of Sudan were analysed for source of blood meal and malaria parasite presence.

Anopheles mosquitoes were collected from different regions in Sudan Khartoum state, Sennar state, Northern state, and El Gedarif state between September 2020 and February 2021. Anopheles mosquitoes were collected using the standard pyrethrum spray catch and back-pack aspirator. Mosquito samples were sorted and morphologically identified to species level using international identification keys. Morphologically identified mosquito species were also confirmed using PCR. Genomic DNA was extracted from mosquitoes for molecular identificatiorthropods exhibit zoophilic feeding behaviour for mammals.

This study which was mainly on blood-fed Anopheles mosquitoes showed a diversity in the type of diet from human, cattle, and goat. Anopheles mosquitoes especially An. arabiensis in Sudan, are opportunistic blood feeders and can feed broadly on both human and cattle. The application of blood meal identification is not only important in malaria vector epidemiological surveillance but also is very useful in areas where arthropods exhibit zoophilic feeding behaviour for mammals.

Antibody response to SARS-CoV-2 is a valuable biomarker for the assessment of the spread of the virus in a population and evaluation of the vaccine candidates. Recent data suggest that antibody levels also may have a prognostic significance in COVID-19. Most of the serological studies so far rely on testing antibodies against spike (S) or nucleocapsid (N) protein, however antibodies can be directed against other structural and nonstructural proteins of the virus, whereas their frequency, biological and clinical significance is unknown.

A novel antigen array comprising 30 SARS-CoV-2 antigens or their fragments was developed and used to examine IgG, IgA, IgE and IgM responses to SARS-CoV-2 in sera from 103 patients with COVID-19 including 34 patients for whom sequential samples were available, and 20 pre-pandemic healthy controls.

Antibody responses to various antigens are highly correlated and the frequencies and peak levels of antibodies are higher in patients with severe/moderate disease than in those multaneously. Results provide important insights into the pathogenesis of COVID-19 and have implications in planning and interpreting antibody-based epidemiological studies.

Advances in systems science creates an opportunity to bring a complexity perspective to health care practices and research. While medical knowledge has greatly progressed using a reductionist and mechanistic philosophy, this approach may be limited in its capacity to manage chronic and complex illness. With its holistic foundation, naturopathy is a primary health profession with a purported alignment with a complexity perspective. As such this pilot study aimed to investigate the application of complexity science principles, strategies, and tools to primary health care using naturopathy as a case study.

A network mapping and analysis of the naturopathic case management process was conducted. Mind maps were created by naturopathic practitioners to reflect their clinical conceptualisation of a common paper clinical case. These mind maps were inputed into Gephi, a network mapping, exploration, and analysis software. Various layouts of the data were produced, and these were analysed using exploratory data anament of chronic and complex conditions and research opportunities to capture the complex clinical reasoning processes of practitioners.

This pilot study demonstrates that it is feasible to apply a complexity science perspective to investigating primary health care case management. This supports a shift to viewing the human organism as a complex adaptive system within primary health care settings, with implications for health care practices that are more cognisant with the treatment of chronic and complex conditions and research opportunities to capture the complex clinical reasoning processes of practitioners.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been discovered to participate in various cancer developments. Fezolinetant antagonist However, the biological function of lncRNAs associated with gastric cancer (GC) has not been fully elucidated.

Quantitative RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) assay was performed to measure lncRNAs, microRNAs (miRNAs) and message RNA (mRNA) expression. Cell Counter Kit-8 (CCK-8), clone formation, wound healing, and transwell assays were performed to investigate cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) assay was used to analyze LINC00922 in either the cytoplasm or nucleus. The potential binding among lncRNA, miRNA, and mRNA was evidenced by bioinformatics, luciferase reporter assay. Mouse-xenograft experiments were used to explore the tumorigenesis in vivo.

LINC00922 was upregulated in GC, and high LINC00922 expression was associated with poor prognosis. Inhibition of LINC00922 suppressed GC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and activated cell apoptosis in vitro and inhibited tumorigenesis in vivo. Besides, LINC00922 was markedly located in the cytoplasm. The mechanistic analysis demonstrated that LINC00922 acted as a sponge of miR-204-5p, thereby inhibiting the expression of the target gene-High Mobility Group AT-hook 2 (HMGA2).

LINC00922 accelerated the progression of GC by miR-204-5p/HMGA2 axis. These findings support LINC00922 may be a promising option for the diagnosis and therapy of GC.

Economic evaluations of the implementation of health-related evidence-based interventions (EBIs) are conducted infrequently and, when performed, often use a limited set of quantitative methods to estimate the cost and effectiveness of EBIs. These studies often underestimate the resources required to implement and sustain EBIs in diverse populations and settings, in part due to inadequate scoping of EBI boundaries and underutilization of methods designed to understand the local context. We call for increased use of diverse methods, especially the integration of quantitative and qualitative approaches, for conducting and better using economic evaluations and related insights across all phases of implementation.

We describe methodological opportunities by implementation phase to develop more comprehensive and context-specific estimates of implementation costs and downstream impacts of EBI implementation, using the Exploration, Preparation, Implementation, Sustainment (EPIS) framework. We focus specifically onning for these health programs. Future work should consider additional opportunities for mixed-method approaches to economic evaluations.

In general, the diagnosis of pedicle screw (PS) loosening is evaluated qualitatively based on the presence of a radiolucent area around the implant wider than 1 mm on plain radiographs and computed tomography (CT). Digital tomosynthesis is a novel imaging technology that can acquire reconstructed tomographic images of patients in different postures with relatively low radiation. In this study, PS loosening is evaluated quantitatively by measuring the PS displacement angle in the vertebrae using digital tomosynthesis.

We evaluated 41 patients who underwent posterior spinal fusion surgery using PS. The 72 pedicle screws at the cranial end of the fused segments were evaluated. The patients were divided in two groups, one with PS loosening (7 patients, 12 screws) and the other without PS loosening (34 patients, 60 screws), based on conventional CT findings. All patients underwent tomosynthesis in two different postures during a single CT session.

The displacement angles of the PS in patients in a lying position and in a standing position were measured using selected slices of the same cross-sectional view from digital tomosynthesis. The displacement angle was significantly greater in the PS loosening group (5.7°) than in the group without PS loosening (0.6°) (p<0.01). Based on the ROC analysis, the optimal cut-off value of the PS displacement angle for identification of loosened screws was 1.7° with a sensitivity of 100% and specificity of 93% (AUC = 0.98).

This new method using digital tomosynthesis has the potential to aid diagnosis of PS loosening quantitatively and more accurately than conventional evaluations.

Emotion regulation (ER) is a key process underlying posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), yet, little is known about how ER changes with PTSD treatment. Understanding these effects may shed light on treatment processes.

We recently completed a non-inferiority design randomised controlled trial demonstrating that a breathing-based yoga practice (Sudarshan kriya yoga; SKY) was not clinically inferior to cognitive processing therapy (CPT) across symptoms of PTSD, depression, or negative affect. Here, in secondary exploratory analyses (intent-to-treat N = 85; per protocol N = 59), we examined whether self-reported ER (Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale; DERS) and physiological ER (heart rate variability; HRV) improved with treatment for clinically significant PTSD symptoms among US Veterans.

DERS-Total and all six subscales improved with small-to-moderate effect sizes (d = .24-.66) following CPT or SKY, with no differences between treatment groups. Following SKY (but not CPT), HR max-min (average difference between maximum and minimum beats per minute), LF/HF (low-to-high frequency) ratio, and normalised HF-HRV (high frequency power) improved (moved towards a healthier profile; d = .
