Pragmatic Free Trial Meta

Pragmatic Free Trial Meta is a non-commercial, open data platform and infrastructure that supports research on pragmatic trials. It collects and shares cleaned trial data and ratings using PRECIS-2, allowing for multiple and diverse meta-epidemiological research studies to examine the effects of treatment across trials that have different levels of pragmatism and other design features.

Background

Pragmatic trials are increasingly recognized as providing real-world evidence for clinical decision making. The term "pragmatic", however, is used inconsistently and its definition and assessment require further clarification. Pragmatic trials should be designed to inform policy and clinical practice decisions, rather than to prove an hypothesis that is based on a clinical or physiological basis. A pragmatic trial should try to be as close as possible to actual clinical practices, including recruiting participants, setting, designing, delivery and implementation of interventions, determining and analysis outcomes, and primary analysis.
