infantis, specific antibody, and radiotherapy. Levels of HIF-1α, Glut-1, Ki-67, and CD31 expression, as well as uptake of FDG and FMISO, were the lowest in the combination-treated mice. In contrast, γ-H2AX and TNF-α expression levels were elevated and hypoxia in tumour tissue was reduced compared with controls.

In conclusion, our data indicated that the curative effect of radiotherapy for lung cancer was enhanced by pre-treating mice with a combination of B. infantis and its specific monoclonal antibody.

De novo malignancy is a worrying complication after kidney transplantation; the type of which may vary due to factors such as theprevalence of viral infection and race. Kaposi sarcoma used to be the most common malignancy among our patients constituting more than one-third of cancers. Nevertheless, we noticed that Kaposi sarcoma has not been observed for a long period. Therefore, we conducted this study to explore such observation.

Data of all kidney transplant recipients were retrieved and retrospectively analyzed. Their total number was 3126 patients. Their mean age was 28.71 ± 10.97years and of them, 823 (26.3%) were females. The pattern of Kaposi sarcoma throughout the last decade as well as the preceding three decades was studied. The possible relation between thedisappearance of Kaposi sarcoma andthree paradigm shifts in our practice, namely the use of mTOR inhibitors, steroid-free regimen and CMV prophylaxis was explored.

Since 2010, no new cases of Kaposi sarcoma have been observed. In addition,en and CMV prophylaxis policy are possible contributing factors. Nevertheless, only CMV prophylaxis policy had a statistically significant relation to the disappearance of Kaposi sarcoma.β-tubulin, a component of microtubules, is involved in a wide variety of roles in cell shape, motility, intracellular trafficking and regulating intracellular metabolism. It has been an important fungicide target to control plant pathogen, for example, Fusarium. However, the regulation of fungicide sensitivity by β-tubulin-interacting proteins is still unclear. Here, ASK1 was identified as a β-tubulin interacting protein. The ASK1 regulated the sensitivity of Fusarium to carbendazim (a benzimidazole carbamate fungicide), and multiple cellular processes, such as chromatin separation, conidiation and sexual production. Further, we found the point mutations at 50th and 198th of β2-tubulin which caused carbendazim resistance decreased the binding between β2-tubulin and ASK1, resulting in the deactivation of ASK1. ASK1, on the other hand, competed with carbendazim to bind to β2-tubulin. The point mutation F167Y in β2-tubulin broke the intermolecular H-bonds and salt bridges between β2-tubulin and ASK1, which reduced the competitive effect of ASK1 to carbendazim and resulted in the similar carbendazim sensitivities in F167Y-ΔASK1 and F167Y. These findings have powerful implications for efforts to understand the interaction among β2-tubulin, its interacting proteins and fungicide, as well as to discover and develop new fungicide against Fusarium.Global methods for assaying translation have greatly improved our understanding of the protein-coding capacity of the genome. In particular, it is now possible to perform genome-wide and condition-specific identification of translation initiation sites through modified ribosome profiling methods that selectively capture initiating ribosomes. Here we discuss our recent study applying such an approach to meiotic and mitotic timepoints in the simple eukaryote, budding yeast, as an example of the surprising diversity of protein products-many of which are non-canonical-that can be revealed by such methods. O6-Benzylguanine inhibitor We also highlight several key challenges in studying non-canonical protein isoforms that have precluded their prior systematic discovery. A growing body of work supports expanded use of empirical protein-coding region identification, which can help relieve some of the limitations and biases inherent to traditional genome annotation approaches. Our study also argues for the adoption of less static views of gene identity and a broader framework for considering the translational capacity of the genome.

Soft tissue reconstruction of the hand and distal upper extremity is challenging to preserve the function of the hand as good as possible. Therefore, a thin flap has been shown to be useful. In this retrospective study, we aimed to show the use of the free temporoparietal fascial flap in soft tissue reconstruction of the hand and distal upper extremity.

We analysed the outcome of free temporoparietal fascial flaps that were used between the years 2007and 2016 at our institution. Major and minor complications, defect location and donor site morbidity were the main fields of interest.

14 patients received a free temporoparietal fascial flap for soft tissue reconstruction of the distal upper extremity. Minor complications were noted in three patients and major complications in two patients. Total flap necrosis occurred in one patient.

The free temporoparietal fascial flap is a useful tool in reconstructive surgery of the hand and the distal upper extremity with a low donor site morbidity and moderate rates of major and minor complications.

Although of high relevance for clinical decision making, there exists no consensus throughout the literature of the terms "acute" and "traumatic" used in the classification of rotator cuff tears. With differing definitions, the comparability of outcome studies may be limited. The aim was to provide a detailed systematic review of the definitions used in the literature and present a suggestion for a standardization in nomenclature based on the findings.

Four different internet databases were searched in February 2020 using the terms ("acute" OR "traumatic" OR "trauma" OR "athlete" OR "young") AND ("rotator cuff tears" OR "rotator cuff tear" OR "rotator cuff" OR "rotator cuff rupture" OR "supraspinatus" OR "infraspinatus" OR "subscapularis" OR "teres minor"). Prospective, retrospective, cohort and case-control studies as well as case series were included. Systematic reviews, cadaveric or laboratory studies and studies on non-traumatic or non-acute rotator cuff tears were excluded.

The literature search coy an adequate trauma, e.g., a fall on the retroverted arm with an axial cranioventral force or a traumatic shoulder dislocation.

The term "acute" should be reserved for RCT showing muscle edema, wavelike appearance of the central part of the torn tendon and joint effusion, which typically requires adequate imaging within 2 weeks from trauma. Repair of acute tears should occur within 8 weeks from trauma to benefit from possibly superior biological healing capacities. The term "traumatic" should be used for a sudden onset of symptoms in a previously asymptomatic patient, triggered by an adequate trauma, e.g., a fall on the retroverted arm with an axial cranioventral force or a traumatic shoulder dislocation.

This study compared the clinical outcome and repair integrity of single-loaded and double-loaded single-row arthroscopic repair of chronic anterior shoulder instability.

Fifty consecutive chronic anterior shoulder instability cases treated by arthroscopic labral repair were included. A single-loaded single-row technique was used in the first 25 consecutive shoulders, and a double-loaded single-row technique was used in the next 25 consecutive shoulders. The number of suture anchors was 4 in the shoulders that underwent single-loaded repair and 3 in the shoulders that underwent double-loaded repair. 42 shoulders (84.0%) followed up clinical outcomes were evaluated a minimum 2years (mean 28.5months; range 24-46) postoperatively. The postoperative labral repair integrity was evaluated by MDCT-arthrogram at a minimum 6months postoperatively.

At the final follow-up, the average UCLA, ASES, Constant, Rowe score, VAS pain score, and VAS for instability scores improved significantly, to 33.05, 92.33, 89.05, 94.evel III.

To investigate risk factors and suggest preventive strategy for excessive coronal inclination of tibial plateau following medial opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO).

A total of 133 consecutive patients who underwent MOWHTO were retrospectively enrolled. Patients were divided into two groups based on postoperative medial proximal tibial angle (post-MPTA) of 95° control group (n = 111, 83.5%) with post-MPTA less than 95° and excessive MPTA group (n = 22, 16.5%) with post-MPTA 95° or more. Demographics, radiographic parameters [mechanical lateral distal femoral angle (mLDFA), MPTA, posterior tibial slope, joint line obliquity (JLO), hip-knee-ankle angle, joint line convergence angle (JLCA), weight bearing line ratio, and correction angle], and clinical outcomes of patients were compared. Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to determine risk factors for post-MPTA 95° or more.

Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that preoperative JLO ≥ 3° [odds ratio (OR) 6.940, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.373-20.296, p < 0.001] and preoperative JLCA ≥ 5° (OR 5.723, 95% CI 1.833-17.865, p = 0.008) were statistically significant risk factors for post-MPTA ≥ 95°. Incidences of excessive MPTA following MOWHTO in patients with none, one, and two risk factors preoperatively were 3.7%, 26.7%, and 77.8%, respectively.

Preoperative JLO ≥ 3° and JLCA ≥ 5° were two significant risk factors for excessive MPTA following MOWHTO. Thus, surgeon should consider other types of osteotomy if these two risk factors are present together preoperatively in MOWHTO candidates.

Elective implant removal (IR) accounts for up to 30% of all orthopaedic surgeries. While there is general acceptance about the need of implant removal for obvious reasons, such as infections or implant failure, little is known about the beneficial aspects in cases of minor reasons such as patients' wish for IR. Therefore, we initiated this study to define patients' benefit of elective implant removal following plate osteosynthesis of displaced clavicle fractures.

Prospective evaluation of patients was conducted before implant removal and 6weeks postoperative. Subjective and objective criteria included pain rating on a visual analogue scale (VAS) and active range of motion (ROM) pre- and 6weeks postoperative. Functional scoring included Constant-Murley Score, DASH (Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder and Hand Score), MSQ (Munich Shoulder Questionnaire) and SPADI (Shoulder Pain and Disability Index).

37 patients were prospectively enrolled in this study and implant removal was performed after 16 ± 6.1months. No re-fractures nor other complications were detected during routine follow up. Functional outcome increased through all scores (Constant score 73.3 ± 14.6 preoperative to 87.4 ± 12.0 postoperative (p = 0.000), MSQ 85.0 ± 7.3 preoperative to 91.8 ± 9.0 postoperative (p = 0.005), DASH Score 7.4 ± 8.2 preoperative to 5.7 ± 9.5 postoperative (p = 0.414), SPADI 93.4 ± 6.6 preoperative to 94.0 ± 10.1 postoperative (p = 0.734).

Discomfort during daily activities or performing sports as well as limited range of motion were the main reasons for patients' wish for implant removal. We found increased functional outcome parameters and decreased irritation after implant removal. Therefore we suggest implant removal in case of patients' wish and completed fracture consolidation.
