Nine amine species in atmospheric particles during haze and low-pollution days with low and high relative humidity (RH) were analyzed in urban Guangzhou, China. The mean concentrations of total measured amines (Ʃamines) in fine particles were 208 ± 127, 63.7 ± 21.3, and 120 ± 20.1 ng m-3 during haze, low pollution-low RH (LP-LRH), and low pollution-high RH (LP-HRH) episodes, respectively. The dominant amine species were methylamine (MA), dimethylamine (DMA), diethylamine (DEA) and dibutylamine (DBA), which in total accounted for 82-91% of the Ʃamines during different pollution episodes. The contributions of Ʃamines-C to water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC) and Ʃamines-N to water-soluble organic nitrogen (WSON) were 1.52% and 2.49% during haze, 1.24% and 1.96% during LP-LRH, and 2.00 and 2.98% during LP-HRH days, respectively. The mass proportion of Ʃamines in fine particles was higher during LP-HRH periods (0.19%) than during haze and LP-LRH periods (0.16%). The mass proportion of DBA in Ʃamines increased from 7% during haze and LP-LRH episodes to 25% during LP-HRH episodes. Compared with other amines, DBA showed a stronger linear relationship with RH (r = 0.867, p less then 0.01), which demonstrates its high sensitivity to high RH conditions. Meteorological parameters (including RH, the mixed layer depth, wind speed and temperature), the oxidizing capacity (ozone concentration), and gaseous pollutants (NOx and SO2) correlated with amines under different pollution conditions. Under high RH, acid-base reactions were the dominant pathway for the gas-to-particle distribution of amines in urban areas, while direct dissolution dominated in the background site. To our knowledge, this study is the first attempt to conduct in situ measurements of particulate amines during different pollution conditions in China, and further research is needed to in-depth understanding of the influence of amines on haze formation. Most developing nations' economies are built on agriculture and most of their citizens rely on it for survival. Global agricultural systems are experiencing tough and unprecedented challenges in the age of changing climate. Every year, the world's population grows, necessitating increased agrarian productivity. As a result, there has been a movement toward utilizing emerging technologies, such as nanotechnology. Nanotechnology with plant systems has inspired great interest in the current scenario in developing areas that come under the umbrella of agriculture and develop environmental remediation strategies. Plant-mediated synthesized nanoparticle (NPs) are eco-friendly, less time consuming, less expensive, and provide long-term product safety. Simultaneously, it provides tools that have the potentiality as "magic bullets" containing nutrients, fungicides, fertilizers, herbicides, or nucleic acids that target specific plant tissues and deliver their payload to the targeting location of the plant to achieve the intended results for environmental monitoring and pollution resistance. In this perspective, the classification and biological activities of different NPs on agroecosystem are focused. Furthermore, absorption, transport, and modification of NPs in plants were thoroughly examined. Some of the most promising new technologies e.g., nanotechnology to increase crop agricultural input efficiency and reduce biotic and abiotic stresses are also discussed. Potential development and implementation challenges were explored, highlighting the importance of using a systems approach when creating suggested nanotechnologies.Susceptibility to hazardous materials and contamination is largely determined by genetic make-up and evolutionary history of affected organisms. Yet evolutionary adaptation and microevolutionary processes triggered by contaminants are rarely considered in ecotoxicology. Using an evolve and resequencing approach, we investigated genome-wide responses of the midge C. riparius exposed to virgin polyamide microplastics (0-180 μm size range, at concentration 1 g kg-1) during seven consecutive generations. The results were integrated to a parallel life-cycle experiment ran under the same exposure conditions. Emergence, life-cycle trait, showed first a substantial reduction in larval survival, followed by a rapid recovery within three generations. On the genomic level, we observed substantial selectively driven allele frequency changes (mean 0.566 ± 0.0879) within seven generations, associated with a mean selection coefficient of 0.322, indicating very strong selection pressure. Putative selection targets were mainly connected to oxidative stress in the microplastics exposed C. riparius population. This is the first multigenerational study on chironomids to provide evidence that upon exposure to polyamide microplastic there are changes on the genomic level, providing basis to rapid adaptation of aquatic organisms to microplastics.Owing to the ubiquitous existence of detrimental heavy metals in the environment, simple adsorption-oriented approaches are becoming increasingly appealing for the effective removal of Pb2+ and Cr3+ from water bodies. These techniques use nanocomposites (NC) of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and Mn3O4 (rGO-Mn3O4), they employ a hydrothermal technique featuring NaBH4 and NaOH solutions. Here, spectroscopic and microscopic instrumental techniques were used to evaluate the morphological and physicochemical characteristics of prepared reduced graphene oxide manganese oxide (rGO-Mn3O4), revealing that it possessed a well-defined porous structure with a specific surface area of 126 m2 g-1. The prepared rGO-Mn3O4 had significant adsorption efficiencies for Pb2+ and Cr3+, achieving maximum sequestration capacities of 130.28 and 138.51 mg g-1 for Pb2+ and Cr3+, respectively, according to the Langmuir model. These adsorption capacities are comparable to or greater than those of previously reported graphene-based materials. The Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order models adequately represented the experimental results. Thermodynamic analysis revealed that adsorption occurred through spontaneous endothermic reactions. Recycling studies showed that the developed r-GO-Mn3O4 had excellent recyclability, with less then 70% removal at the 5th cycle; its feasibility was evaluated using industrial wastewater, suggesting that Pb2+ was selectively removed from Pb2+ and Cr3+ contaminated water. The instrumental analysis and surface phenomena studies presented here revealed that the adsorptive removal processes of both heavy metals involved π electron donor-acceptor interactions, ion exchange, and electrostatic interactions, along with surface complexation. Overall, the developed rGO-Mn3O4 has the potential to be a high-value adsorbent for removing heavy metals. The poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)-based nanoparticle was synthesized by surfactant-free emulsion polymerization method and then post modified with Calixarene using (3-Aminopropyl)triethoxysilane organo-silane as a linker after OH-treatment. The prepared structure was applied for efficient adsorption of Vanadium ions in the aqueous solution after characterization by FT-IR, SEM, TEM, DLS, and EDX. Additional investigations discovered that the prepared adsorbent has a good capacity to adsorb vanadium ions. The effect of key experimental factors was studied to find the optimal point of adsorbent efficiency including the initial concentration of analyte, sorbent dosage, pH of the solution, contact time, and type/quantity of the eluents. It was specified, the maximum adsorption capacity for the synthesized nanoparticles was obtained about 322 mg g-1. The adsorption mechanism was revealed that the model of Langmuir isotherm well-matched compared to the others due to the calculated equilibrium data. Besides, the kinetics of the adsorption process was fitted with pseudo-second-order. Eventually, the prepared adsorbent was successfully applied in vanadium adsorption from real water media.Huntington disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disorder produced by an expansion of CAG repeats in the HTT gene. Patients of HD show involuntary movements, cognitive decline and psychiatric impairment. People carrying abnormally long expansions of CAGs (more than 35 CAG repeats) produce mutant huntingtin (mHtt), which encodes tracks of polyglutamines (polyQs). These polyQs make the protein prone to aggregate and cause it to acquire a toxic gain of function. Principally affecting the frontal cortex and the striatum, mHtt disrupts many cellular functions. In addition, this protein is expressed ubiquitously, and some reports show that many other cell types are affected by the toxicity of mHtt. Several studies reported that metformin, a widely-used anti-diabetic drug, is neuroprotective in models of HD. Lysipressin in vivo Here, we provide a review of the benefits of this substance to treat HD. Metformin is a pleiotropic drug, modulating different targets such as AMPK, insulin signalling and many others. These molecules regulate autophagy, chaperone expression, and more, which in turn reduce mHtt toxicity. Moreover, metformin alters gut microbiome and its metabolic processes. The study of potential targets, interactions between the drug, host and microbiome, or genomic and pharmacogenomic approaches may allow us to design personalised medicine to treat HD.
Brain co-morbidities in DMD are well-documented, less is known about the cognitive, behavioral and psychosocial functioning of patients with BMD.
The systematic review was carried out on two databases (Pubmed and Scopus) according to the PRISMA guidelines. We included all research articles specific to BMD written after 1995.
Studies examining neuropsychological and neurobehavioral functioning in BMD are few and have several methods limitations. BMD population is characterized by high rates of cognitive impairment, with specific involvement of different cognitive areas. Unlike DMD, verbal skills are better preserved. Neurodevelopmental and emotional/behavioral disorders have great importance in BMD, due to their high prevalence. Lack of Dp140 or Dp71 can cause intellectual disability, these isoforms are probably responsible for the other brain-related comorbidities as well.
The results suggest that cognitive and neuropsychiatric comorbid symptoms may affect a significant proportion of BMD patients therefore it is important to mental health and neuropsychological screening. Finding tools for an adequate assessment is a priority in order to include brain outcome measures in clinical trials.

We review studies reporting age-related variations in motor response inhibition and MRI measurements from typically-developing adolescents. Reviewed studies measured response inhibition using one of three tasks-the Stop Signal Task, Go/No-Go, and Antisaccade Task. Task reliability appears to be particularly strong for the SST. Across tasks and study designs, results indicate that inhibitory control improves markedly through early adolescence. The trajectory of change in later adolescence and into young adulthood (i.e., linear or plateauing) varies depending on the task design. Neuroimaging studies identify adult-like response inhibition networks that are involved in behavioral development. The pros and cons of each task are discussed, including recommendations to guide future studies. Ongoing studies in large longitudinal datasets offer opportunities for further exploration of the shape of change in response inhibition, related neural regions, and associations with other affective and cognitive processes to identify potential impacts of motor response inhibition immaturities or individual differences on adolescent risk-taking behaviors.
