signaling have a key role in hemodynamic dysfunction in diabetic heart. The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes on Ca

signaling in epicardial (EPI) and endocardial (ENDO) cells of the left ventricle after 5-6months of STZ injection.

Whole-cell patch clamp was used to measure the L-type Ca

channel (LTCC) and Na

/Ca

exchanger currents. Fluorescence photometry techniques were used to measure intracellular free Ca

concentration.

Although the LTCC current was not significantly altered, the amplitude of Ca

transients increased significantly in EPI-STZ and ENDO-STZ compared with controls. Time to peak LTCC current, time to peak Ca

transient, time to half decay of LTCC current and time to half decay of Ca

transients were not significantly changed in EPI-STZ and ENDO-STZ myocytes compared with controls. The Na

/Ca

exchanger current was significantly smaller in EPI-STZ and in ENDO-STZ compared with controls.

STZ-induced diabetes resulted in an increase in amplitude of Ca

To investigate and forecast type2 diabetes mellitus epidemic, its related risk factors and cost in Oman by 2050.

An age-structured mathematical model was used to characterize type2 diabetes mellitus epidemiology and trends in Oman between 1990 and 2050. The model was parametrized using current and quality data, including six nationally representative population-based epidemiological surveys for type2 diabetes mellitus and its key risk factors.

The projected type2 diabetes mellitus prevalence increased from 15.2% in 2020 to 23.8% in 2050. The prevalence increased from 16.8 and 13.8% in 2020 among women and men to 26.3 and 21.4% in 2050, respectively. In 2020, 190,489 Omanis were living with type2 diabetes mellitus compared with 570,227 in 2050. The incidence rate per 1,000 person-years changed from 8.3 in 2020 to 12.1 in 2050. Type2 diabetes mellitus' share of Oman's national health expenditure grew by 36% between 2020 and 2050 (from 21.2 to 28.8%). It has been reported that REV7 expression is associated with poor prognosis in several human cancers. The aim of this study is to investigate the significance of REV7 in lung carcinogenesis. Immunohistochemical analyses of surgically resected lung cancer specimens revealed that REV7 shows an increased expression in small cell lung carcinomas (SCLCs) when compared with other histological types of lung carcinoma. Association between REV7 expression levels and clinicopathological factors was investigated using SCLC cases with or without surgical resection. Our analyses revealed that high REV7 expression significantly correlated with tumor cell proliferation, assessed by Ki-67 labeling indices, and was negatively associated with distant metastasis and extensive-stage disease. No significant association was detected between REV7 expression and other factors, including prognosis or response to chemoradiotherapy in SCLC. Increase in REV7 expression in SCLC was confirmed using SCLC cell lines. In addition, siRNA-mediated depletion of REV7 activated the apoptotic pathway and suppressed cell growth in SCLC cells. Family 1 has three affected boys while Family 2 has an affected daughter, all with clinical and MRI findings of Leigh syndrome and intermittent episodes of acidosis and ketosis. Therefore, our purpose was to compare cerebrovascular responses in males and females throughout a graded exercise test (GXT). Twenty-six participants (13 Females and 13 Males, 24 ± 4 yrs.) completed a GXT on a recumbent cycle ergometer consisting of 3-min stages. Each sex completed 50W, 75W, 100W stages. Thereafter, power output increased 30W/stage for females and 40W/stage for males until participants were unable to maintain 60-80 RPM. A 26 year-old man presented with a prostatic mass, hematuria, and urinary retention. He underwent total pelvic exenteration, colostomy, ileal conduit construction and partial urethrectomy. Five months postoperatively, he developed multiple metastases to the lungs, brain, iliopsoas muscles and bones. He died of respiratory failure, and autopsy was performed. Microscopically, the tumor was primarily composed of uniform primitive mesenchymal cells infiltrating to the prostate with cambium layer. Rhabdomyoblasts and anaplastic cells were focally observed. Immunohistochemically, tumor cells were positive for desmin, myogenin, PAX7, HMGA2. Multinodular goiter was detected at autopsy. Because the morphology is similar to pleuropulmonary blastoma and DICER1-mutant RMS of the female genital tract, we tested and identified a hotspot DICER1 mutation with Sanger sequencing.
