Medic flower is a medicinal plant for the treatment of diseases in China. The present study was carried out to scientifically validate the gastroprotective activity and clarify the possible mechanism of the total flavones from. Methods Gastric ulcer was induced in mice by oral administration of ethanol. The gastroprotective activity of TFA was evaluated by the gastric ulcer index and histological examinations. The gastric tissue was collected in the form of homogenate. The level of malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH), the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), and protein content were measured. Western blotting for the expression of Bax, Bcl-2, TNF-α, and NF-κB(p65) was also carried out. The effect of TFA was compared with that of standard antiulcer drug omeprazole (100 mg/kg). Results This gastroprotective effect of TFA could be attributed to the increase in the activity of SOD and GSH and decrease in the levels of MDA and also decrease in the levels of Bax, TNF-α, and NF-κB(p65) was also carried out. The effect of TFA was compared with that of standard antiulcer drug omeprazole (100 mg/kg). Conclusion The findings of this study demonstrated that TFA could significantly attenuate ethanol-induced gastric injury via antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic effects. The aim of this paper is to determine the impact of the phenolics and carbohydrate in buckwheat honey on human intestinal microbiota. We investigated the phenolics and carbohydrate compositions of eight buckwheat honey samples using high-performance liquid chromatography and ion chromatography. The human intestinal microbes were cultured in a medium supplemented with eight buckwheat honey samples or the same concentration of fructooligosaccharides. The bacterial 16S rDNA V4 region sequence of DNA extraction was determined by the Illumina MiSeq platform. Selleckchem Tiplaxtinin 12 phenolics and 4 oligosaccharides were identified in almost all buckwheat honey samples, namely, protocatechuic acid, 4-hydroxy benzoic acid, vanillin, gallic acid, p-coumaric acid, benzoic acid, isoferulic acid, methyl syringate, trans,trans-abscisic acid, cis,trans-abscisic acid, ferulic acid, 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, kestose, isomaltose, isomaltotriose, and panose. Most notably, this is the first study to reveal the presence of 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde in buckwheat honey. 4-Hydroxybenzaldehyde seems to be a land marker of buckwheat honey. Our results indicate that buckwheat honey can provide health benefits to the human gut by selectively supporting the growth of indigenous Bifidobacteria and restraining the pathogenic bacterium in the gut tract. We infer that buckwheat honey may be a type of natural intestinal-health products. Methods The RUNX3 plasmid vector was transfected into human colon cancer HT-29 cells by liposome-mediated transfection, while the empty vector and the blank group were used as the control group. After Geneticin (G418) screening, HT-29 cells with stable expression of RUNX3 gene were obtained. The expressions of mRNA and proteins of RUNX3 and metalloproteinases (MMP)-2/9 were detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and western blot. Cell proliferation was determined by MTT assay. The effect of RUNX3 on invasion and metastasis of HT-29 cells was evaluated by scratch injury assay, Transwell chamber, and Matrigel invasion model. Results RUNX3 was expressed stably in HT-29 cells after transfection. The expressions of RUNX3 mRNA and proteins in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the blank/empty vector groups. Meanwhile, the expressions of MMP-2/9 mRNA and proteins in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the blank group and the empty vector group. The proliferation and migration ability in the experimental group was significantly lower than blank/empty vector groups from the third day. Transwell chamber experiment and Matrigel invasion assay showed that the number of Transwell cells was decreased significantly than blank/empty vector groups, but no difference was found between the blank group and the empty vector group. Conclusion RUNX3 can inhibit the invasion and metastasis of human colon cancer HT-29 cells, and the mechanism may be related to decreased expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9. Methods The PubMed, EMBASE, PMC, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases were searched to identify correlational studies published in English. Prospective controlled studies that evaluated the treatment effect of intra-arterial neoadjuvant chemotherapy or intravenous neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer were pooled for a meta-analysis. Results A total of three eligible studies with 112 patients with locally advanced cervical cancer were eventually included in this analysis. The baseline regimen of neoadjuvant chemotherapy was platinum-based chemotherapy. The total clinical response rate was 71.4%, and the overall pathological complete response (CR) rate was 11.5%. The grade 3/4 toxicity rate was 27.2%. In the intra-arterial group, the response rate was 83.1% (CR, 22.0%; partial response (PR), 61.0%), which was significantly higher than 58.5% (CR, 11.3%; PR, 47.2%) in the intravenous group (P=0.01). The pathological CR rate was 15.5% in the intra-arterial group, which was higher than 6.5% in the intravenous group. The grade 3/4 toxicity rate was 17.2% in the intra-arterial group, which was higher than the rate of 13.8% in the intravenous group. Conclusion Platinum-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy was well tolerated in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer and showed moderate response activity. Compared to intravenous neoadjuvant chemotherapy, intra-arterial neoadjuvant chemotherapy had an evident advantage in terms of the clinical response while maintaining a similar toxicity rate. The clinical efficacy of intra-arterial neoadjuvant chemotherapy deserves further evaluation. Electroacupuncture (EA) has been shown to alleviate visceral hypersensitivity (VH) in IBS rat models by inhibiting the activation of astrocytes in the spinal cord. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms mediated by P2Y1 receptor of this effect of electroacupuncture remain unclear. Aim To explore whether EA inhibits the activity of astrocytes in the spinal cord dorsal horn of rat with visceral hypersensitivity by inhibiting P2Y1 receptor and its downstream mitogen activated protein kinase/extracellular regulated kinase 1 (MAPK/ERK) pathway. Methods Ten-day-old Sprague-Dawley (SD) male rats were given an intracolonic injection of 0.2 ml of 0.5% acetic acid (AA) to establish a visceral hypersensitivity model. EA was performed at Zusanli (ST 36) and Shangjuxu (ST 37) at 100 Hz for 1.05 s and 2 Hz for 2.85 s alternately, pulse width forCR in the model and EA treated animals to explore the molecular mechanism of EA in inhibiting the activity of spinal cord dorsal horn (L6-S2 segment) astrocytes in rats with IBS visceral hypersensitivity. β, and TNF-μg, 10 μg, 10 . Conclusion EA inhibited astrocyte activity in the spinal cord dorsal horn of rat with IBS visceral hypersensitivity by inhibiting the P2Y1 receptor and its downstream, PKC, and MAPK/ERK1/2 pathways. Despite notable advances in its treatment, some patients show poor responses and clinical outcomes when treated with conventional Western medicine (WM). Chinese herbal injections (CHIs) have been reported to have beneficial effects for PNS. The aim of the present study was to comprehensively determine the efficacy and safety of CHIs for PNS in adults using a network meta-analysis approach. PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane library, and four Chinese databases were systematically searched to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) using CHIs for treatment of PNS published before June 1, 2019. Quality assessment of the identified RCTs was performed according to the Cochrane Handbook. Pooled odds ratios (OR) or mean differences (MD) with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated for discrete or continuous variables, respectively. The primary outcome was complete/total remission and secondary outcomes were serum albumin and urinary protein excretion.
