ost significant difference in the subregion of elevation and distance from railway, whereas the other seven heavy metals had the most significant difference in the sub-regions of influencing factors of soil properties. The spatial distribution of heavy metals varied significantly in soil at the town-scale, which was closely related to soil properties, topography, and human activities in the study area.To understand the spatial distribution characteristics and potential ecological risk of heavy metals in soil of Baiyangdian Lake, 55 soil samples were collected and the contents of eight heavy metals (Mn, Cr, Cu, Zn, As, Cd, Pb, and Ni) were detected. The spatial variation structure and distribution pattern were analyzed using geostatistical methods (Moran index and semi-variance model). The degree of heavy metal pollution and its risk were assessed using the geoaccumulation index (Igeo) and potential ecological risk index (Eri and RI). The results showed that the average of ω(Mn), ω(Cr), ω(Cu), ω(Zn), ω(As), ω(Cd), ω(Pb), and ω(Ni) were 467.75, 43.59, 28.57, 89.04, 12.32, 0.18, 19.26, and 30.56 mg·kg-1, respectively, all of which were lower than the screening values of soil pollution risk in agricultural land. However, the contents of Cu, Zn, and Cd were significantly higher than their background values, with two highly variable elements of Cu (48.65%) and Cd (37.52%). The Moran index indicated that Mn, Cu, Cd, and Pb showed weak spatial autocorrelation. Nugget coefficients of both of Cd and Pb shown by the semi-variance model were 100%, suggesting random variation as a main spatial variation driven by anthropogenic factors. High values of soil heavy metals were mainly distributed in the southwest of Baiyangdian Lake with a significant correlation between the heavy metals. The Igeo of soil heavy metals from high to low was Cd>Cu>Zn>Ni>As>Pb>Mn>Cr. Cd pollution was the most common, in which 67.27% of the samples were lightly polluted. Ecological risk assessment revealed that the average Eri of Cd was 58.81, belonging to the middle ecological risk level, and the rest were at light ecological risk. As a whole, the RI of soil heavy metal pollution in Baiyangdian Lake was at a light ecological risk level (87.81), with the highest contribution rate of Cd to RI (66.39%). Thus, it is necessary to strengthen the control of soil heavy metal Cd pollution in Baiyangdian Lake in the future.Taking a typical lead-zinc mining area in Yangshuo county, Guangxi as the research object, the contents of 10 metal elements (Cr, Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Cd, Sb, Hg, and Pb) in the surface soil of Sidihe River basin in Yangshuo were analyzed and determined. Pearson correlation analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), positive definite matrix factorization (PMF), and other methods were comprehensively used to quantitatively analyze their contributions and identify pollution sources. In total, 168 surface soil samples were collected across the study area. The mean concentrations of Zn, Cd, Hg, and Pb in the soils were higher than the National Environmental Quality Standards for Soils in China. The mean contents of Sb, Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn were higher than their corresponding local background values by approximately 1.01, 5.50, 3.29, 9.11, and 10.67 times, respectively, indicating that heavy metals have been enriched in topsoil. The Igeo showed that the major pollutant element in the soils was Hg, followed by Pb,), and Mn and Cd were associated with a mixed source of mining activities and agricultural activities (75.4% and 70.4%).The co-exposure of antibiotics has important effects on antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and microbial community aggregation in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). However, it is unclear whether differences in historical antibiotic exposure stress can determine responses of microbes and ARGs to combined antibiotics. By selecting a high concentration (30 mg·L-1) of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and trimethoprim (TMP) as historical exposure stress conditions, the effects of SMX and TMP-combined pollution on ARGs, bacterial communities, and their interactions were explored in short-term experiments. Based on high-throughput quantitative PCR, a total of 13 ARGs were detected, and the absolute abundance was 2.21-5.42 copies·μL-1 (logarithm, DNA, the same below). Among them, sul2, ermB, mefA, and tetM-01 were the main subtypes in the samples, and the absolute abundance was between 2.95 and 5.40 copies·μL-1. The combined contamination of SMX and TMP could cause the enrichment of ARGs and mobile genetic elements (MGEs); rotentional hosts. Importantly, some rare genera (RT, Variibacter, Aeromonas, Cloacibacterium, etc.) were potential hosts of transposon IS613, which played an important role in the proliferation and spread of ARGs. In conclusion, this study revealed the legacy effects of historical antibiotic stress on ARGs and their hosts, which could provide new ideas and theoretical basis for reducing ARGs pollution in WWTPs.Natural colloids (NCs) are ubiquitous in sediments and soils, which could affect the environmental fate of antibiotics. Focusing on chloramphenicol (CAP), different sources of the sediments and soil samples were selected to research the sorption capacity of NCs with different relative molecular weights towards CAP, as well as the impactors, combined with a multi-method approach including cross-flow ultrafiltration, dynamic light scattering, UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, and three-dimensional excitation-emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy. The results revealed that the low molecular weight (LMW) of NCs was associated with a low autochthonous origin and a higher humification degree. The high molecular weight (HMW) of NCs were mainly terrestrial sources, and the aromatic rings contained more oxygen-containing functional groups such as carboxyl, hydroxyl, and carbonyl groups. Four fluorescence components were identified using the parallel factor analysis model, and the humic-like substances were the pfication degree, and humic-like substances of NCs.As new pollutants, microplastics (MPs) can adsorb antibiotics in the water environment and migrate together as carriers. However, microplastics will age continuously in the environment, and their adsorption capacity and adsorption mechanism will change accordingly. With polyethylene (PE) and polystyrene (PS) as the target MPs, which were irradiated by ultraviolet (UV-254), the changes in the physical and chemical properties of MPs before and after aging, such as the color, surface morphology, and functional groups, were compared, and their effects on the adsorption of tetracycline (TC) as well as the related mechanism were explored. The results showed that the pseudo-second-order model could better fit the adsorption process, the adsorption equilibrium was reached within 24 hours, the adsorption capacity of aged MPs for TC was significantly higher than that of original MPs, and the adsorption capacity of PS was higher than that of PE. Langmuir and Freundlich isothermal adsorption equations could both describeen bonding for aged PS.The "bacteria-algae" system plays an important role in water ecosystems. The effects of bacteria in phycospheres on the growth of Microcystis aeruginosa under in-situ nutrient stimulation were studied to explore the bacteria-algae interaction during a cyanobacteria bloom. The results showed that LB medium could inhibit the growth of M. aeruginosa, and the algicidal rate was 86.49%. Sodium acetate, glucose, and sodium citrate could promote M. aeruginosa, and the growth rate was more than 50%. The addition of nutrients in M. aeruginosa could have changed the biocoenosis in the phycosphere and increased the species richness by 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and the number of bacteria in the phycosphere increased dramatically in the LB medium and peptone groups. The physiological and biochemical responses showed that algae suffered serious lipid peroxidation, and superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities first increased significantly and subsequently decreased under the oxidative stress of LB medium or peptone. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) indicated that the surface of algae cells appeared wrinkled, invaded, and atrophied under LB medium stimulation, whereas bacteria in the phycosphere significantly increased. Furthermore, six strains of algicidal bacteria were isolated from the LB medium and peptone groups, and the algicidal rate of Bacillus sp. A1 was 97.55%, which confirmed that the phycosphere of M. aeruginosa included algicidal bacteria. Therefore, appropriate external nutrient stimulation can produce algicidal bacteria in situ to prevent cyanobacterial blooms.Modaomen Waterway is the main outlet of the Pear River system and an important water source for Zhuhai and Macao. The water quality of 13 sampling sites in Modaomen Waterway, phytoplankton, and environmental factors were investigated at 21 sampling sites in 4 drinking water source groups, which transport water from Modaomen Waterway and connect with each other, in August and October of 2021. Darolutamide cost A total of 73 genera of phytoplankton in eight phyla were identified, with a total of 150 species, most of them belonging to Cyanophyta, Chlorophyta, and Bacillariophyta. The relative abundance of Cyanophyta was higher than 90% in the DJS and YL reservoirs during flood and dry seasons; Cyanophyta, Chlorophyta, and Bacillariophyta were dominant phyla during different seasons; and their distribution was balanced in the ZXD and ZY reservoirs. The Shannon-Wiener index, Pielous uniformity index, and Margalef richness index showed that the ZY reservoir had the most abundant biodiversity, which indicated the best water quality, followed by the ZXD and YL reservoirs. Conversely, the DJS was the least diverse reservoir for phytoplankton. The PCoA analysis indicated significant differences in plankton structures in ZXD and ZY with the other two reservoirs (P less then 0.05), respectively. Redundancy analysis (RDA) showed that the main environmental factors affecting the distribution of the phytoplankton community were NO3-, TOC, TP, Cl-, and NH4+-N. These results indicated that the phytoplankton community of the four reservoirs were greatly affected by the nutrient salt caused by water transport, which suggested that the water quality of Modaomen Waterway should be improved to increase reservoir water nutrition to ensure the safety of drinking water sources. The succession of dominant species always occurs during cyanobacterial blooms because there are certain conditions for cyanobacterial blooms formed by different cyanobacteria; this results in more uncertain and complex effects in cyanobacterial blooms. However, the succession pattern and consequences of dominant species and its driving factors have not received enough attention during cyanobacteria blooms. In this study, the phytoplankton community characteristics and water environment factors of Nanpeng Reservoir, a drinking water source in Chongqing, were monitored and analyzed from April to September 2018. The results showed that① a total of 108 species of phytoplankton belonging to 59 genera and 8 phyla were identified in Nanpeng Reservoir. Of this, 13 species of 4 phyla were identified as dominant species, among which the dominance index of Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii was the highest, followed by that of Pseudoanabaena sp. ② The most dominant cyanobacteria were Pseudoanabaena and Cylindrospermopsis in May and July, respectively, in which cyanobacteria density peaked, whereas the Shannon-Weiner diversity and Pielou evenness were significantly lower than those in the other months.
