Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for strolling around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spaces.

For a smooth ride, go for a pram that has air-filled tyres. Also, look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. However, they are more prone to punctures, so be prepared with a repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

Figures have just been released showing that the three-wheeled buggie - a symbol of the noughties of more money than sanity - is in steep decline. They have been replaced by four-wheelers that are able to be more versatile in terrain, while still looking stylish and easy to push.

The rule is that the bigger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with rough ground and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front enable you to move and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tested this buggy with the newborn baby as well as a child who was 3 years old and found it to be extremely robust. It handled grass, cobbles and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was sturdy to push, and very solid on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasional pumping) have suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my children.

The shape and size of the seat is a further factor to consider. The seat should be large enough for your child to be comfortable and to allow them to lie down. Certain three-wheel buggies have the option of reclining completely, while others only allow for an adult facing one.

A great choice for tackling off-road and muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is suitable for a single child starting from birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for infants and toddlers up to age 4 and includes a bumper bar, raincover, improved 5-point harness and large padded seat unit. The storage options are good too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets on the hood and an easy-to-access pouch on the rear of the seat unit.

Larger wheels

Larger wheels mean that your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - ideal for off-road buggies. They also help you maneuver the buggy through tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies feature wheels that swivel at the front to assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock to provide increased speed and stability. This can also help if you bump into an unintentional tree root or kerb as the front wheel will lift up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheeled pushchair s have air-filled tyres, which allows them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. They are prone to punctures, and you'll require an repair kit and spare inner tube in your arsenal.

Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are among our top 3-wheelers. Both buggies feature larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to easily climb and descend kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that, in her words "smoothes out bumps extremely effectively".

The downside of having larger wheels is that they can make some buggies quite broad and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This is a problem if you're using it as a jogger or to to get through doors that are narrow when out and out and about. Most models come with small folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels and store them more compactly.

Easy to manoeuvre

One of the main benefits to a three wheel buggy is that it is much easier to maneuver particularly with a child on the way. They are designed to ensure that the front wheels be turned on a dime and are easy to navigate, making them ideal for terrains that are difficult, such as parks, cobblestones as well as bumpy roads and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3-wheeler with her toddler, and she reported: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive on rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was particularly helpful." I was also impressed with how well it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. It was extremely stable when going downhill or on uneven terrain."

The only downside of this great maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy's larger wheels do sometimes mean that it will be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces - something to be aware of especially if you live in a urban region. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeled buggy could be the better choice for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars are the ideal method to shield your little one from bumps and scrapes when out and out and about. They are simple and quick to put in and will make your child feel safe and secure when out in the city or tackling tough terrain.

It is designed to complement the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar has a soft and padded surface that offers an ideal place for your child to hold to when walking. The durable construction and sturdy design will ensure that your child will take a stroll around town without having to worry about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far forward.

The fabric sling seat sits snug inside the frame rather than sitting on top like modular seats do, providing the lowest centre of gravity at the right height for your baby and also providing an excellent weight distribution to facilitate kerb pop (it takes much less effort to push a buggy up and over the curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath discovered that it was able to cope well with grass and cobbles and it's a good option for jogging thanks to its lockable swivel front wheel that can be locked and air-filled tyres.

With a sophisticated and stylish appearance This bumper bar is sure to draw attention wherever you go. Available in a range of finishes and colors that can be customized to suit your personal style. The bumper bar can be removed and put in place using a quick-release mechanism. The bumper bar is also easy to clean since it is constructed from strong materials. This makes it an excellent option for families who want a stylish and secure stroller accessory.

Comfort

A 3-wheel buggy is the ideal off-road vehicle for handling and performance. With the perfect design and engineering, as well as weight distribution this kind of buggy is able to be able to turn at a moment's notice and be a breeze to steer with just one hand. All Mountain Buggies meet the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as 4-wheel buggies.

Designed with fabric sling seat placed snugly within the frame rather than on top of it like modular seats, the Sport's clever design enables it to have a lower centre of gravity at the right height for your child, giving you a more comfortable push, a lighter curb pop (you do not require as much weight or effort to pop the hood of your buggy up and over the curb) and a better stability and balance. With 16" rear wheels, lockable front wheel, and air-filled tyres, you can enjoy an easier, more comfortable jog.

As the only all-terrain pushchair in our collection to come with a parent-facing seat that can also be used as a car seat or carrycot to ensure the future of your family and have fun on every moment of your day and into the future and all within the footprint of a single buggy!

Kath, our MFM reviewer, also loved the roominess of this buggy. There's a big easy-to-access basket that's surprisingly roomy for such a small buggy as well as an excellent zip-up pouch on the rear of the seat unit and even two smaller mesh pockets under the hood for your phone and keys.
