Topoisomerase II beta (Topo IIβ) is one of the two isoforms of type II topoisomerases present in higher eukaryotes. This 180 kDa nuclear protein involves in different cellular processes like transcription, recombination, etc., apart from its normal topological functions. AG270 Previously, we have reported the association of this isoform along with the other isoform topoisomerase II alpha (Topo IIα) with HIV-1 reverse transcription complex and the downregulation of Topo IIβ expression resulted in incomplete reverse transcription. In this study, we have tested the Topo IIβ specific siRNA delivery using protein nanoparticles prepared with c-terminal domine of transferrin (c-ter) for the first time. Results show that, c-ter nanoparticles resemble apotransferrin nanoparticles in drug holding capability and drug delivery but with small in size. Topo IIβ specific siRNA delivered in the form of c-ter nanoformulation resulted in knockdown of Topo IIβ expression for the prolonged periods and which intern resulted in decreased viral replication of HIV-1.Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease typically presenting with bulbar or limb weakness. There is increasing evidence that amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a multisystem disease with early and frequent impacts on cognition, behaviour, sleep, pain and fatigue. Dysfunction of normal physiological and metabolic processes also appears common. Evidence from pre-symptomatic studies and large epidemiological cohorts examining risk factors for the future development of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis have reported a high prevalence of changes in behaviour and mental health before the emergence of motor weakness. This suggests that changes beyond the motor system are underway at an early stage with dysfunction across brain networks regulating a variety of cognitive, behavioural and other homeostatic processes. The full impact of non-motor dysfunction continues to be established but there is now sufficient evidence that the presence of non-motor symptoms impacts overall survival in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and with up to 80% reporting non-motor symptoms, there is an urgent need to develop more robust therapeutic approaches. This review provides a contemporary overview of the pathobiology of non-motor dysfunction, offering readers a practical approach with regard to assessment and management. We review the current evidence for pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of non-motor dysfunction in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and highlight the need to further integrate non-motor dysfunction as an important outcome measure for future clinical trial design.In this study, we investigated the expression and functions of long noncoding RNAs (LncRNAs) of LINC01518 in an in vitro model of TGF-β1-treated human Tenon capsule fibroblast (HTF) cells. qRT-PCR was used to examine LINC01518 expression in in situ human glaucoma tissues, and in vitro HTF cells treated with TGF-β1. Lentivirus-mediated LINC01518 knockdown was performed in HTF cells to investigate its effect on TGF-β1-induced cell proliferation, migration and autophagy signaling pathway. The potential ceRNA candidate of LINC01518, hsa-miR-216b-5p, was probed by dual-luciferase assay and qRT-PCR. Hsa-miR-216b-5p was also knocked down in LINC01518-downregulated HTF cells to investigate the function of this lncRNA-miRNA epigenetic axis in TGF-β1-treated HTF cells. LINC01518 was upregulated in human glaucoma tissues and cultured HTF cells. LINC01518 downregulation significantly suppressed TGF-β1-induced cell proliferation, migration and autophagy signaling pathway in HTF cells. Hsa-miR-216b-5p was confirmed to be a ceRNA target of LINC01518. Knocking down hsa-miR-216b-5p reversed the suppressing effects of LINC01518 downregulation in TGF-β1-treated HTF cells. Our study demonstrated that LINC01518 is a functional factor in regulating proliferation and migration in TGF-β1-treated HTF cells, and hsa-miR-216b -5p may also be involved. Targeting the epigenetic axis of LINC01518/hsa-miR-216b-5p may provide new insight into the pathological development of human glaucoma.China is the largest carbon emitter in the world. Understanding carbon emissions of China, especially at the provincial level, will help identify the critical factors behind carbon emissions and effectively implement carbon emission reduction measures. There are significant achievements in the study of carbon emissions of China's provinces. However, there is a gap for improvement in the study from periods and groups' perspectives using a decomposition-clustering method. This paper adopts the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI) to decompose each province's carbon emissions, introduces the elbow and K-means methods to cluster provinces based on the driving factors of decomposition, and analyzes the driving factors of carbon emissions from the view of groups and periods. By analyzing the carbon emissions data of 28 provinces in China from 1998 to 2018, a breakthrough has been found that economic activities and energy intensity were the main driving factors of carbon emissions. Some possible countermeasures, such as optimizing the industrial structure and the energy structure, significantly increasing clean energy consumption, would receive effective carbon emission reduction feedback. The results provide better decision-making support for emission reduction policies in China and contribute to global climate change issues.This research aims to reveal the premature deaths caused by long-term exposure to PM2.5 in 2018 in Turkey utilizing the AirQ+ program developed by the World Health Organization. Calculation of yearly average PM2.5 concentration in provinces, acreage of provinces, and the mortality rate of the at-risk population was the data required for the operation of the AirQ+ program. With the help of the AirQ+ program, the results revealed that a total of 44,617 people (95% CI 29.882-57.709) died prematurely due to sustained exposure to PM2.5 in Turkey in 2018. The highest estimated mortality proportion attributable to PM2.5 pollution was in the provinces of Igdir and Kahramanmaras. The highest estimated number of mortality cases per 100,000 population attributable to PM2.5 pollution was in the provinces of Manisa and Afyonkarahisar. This research points out that reaching the PM2.5 limits specified by the WHO could have prevented 44,617 premature deaths in the year 2018 in Turkey.Herbicides reduce the unsafe effects of weeds, but they are likely to have negative impact on essential and secondary metabolism in crops. However, the combined effect of different herbicides on chemical constituents of different varieties of wheat is still not fully obvious. The current investigation was carried out to determine the effects of three post-emergence herbicides (pinoxaden, tribenuron-methyl, and pyroxsulam) on total protein, lipid, and carbohydrate concentrations of three bread wheat cultivars (Misr 1, Giza 171, and Gemmiza 11). These herbicides were added individually and in combinations at recommended and/or half recommended doses. Our findings revealed that the individual application of herbicides decreased total protein and total lipid concentrations in fresh shoots of the three studied wheat cultivars, but increased total carbohydrate concentration. Combined addition of herbicides at recommended and half recommended doses generally decreased the concentrations of total proteins, total lipi carbohydrates. The highest reduction of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium concentrations compared to control was observed when tribenuron-methyl+pyroxsulam was applied at the half recommended dose under the three studied cultivars. However, the combined application of tribenuron-methyl+pyroxsulam at the half recommended dose caused the great depression in total proteins and total carbohydrates of wheat grains. Under the stress effect of herbicides, individual application of pinoxaden gave the best results for nitrogen and potassium content as well as total protein and total carbohydrate concentrations in the three studied wheat grain cultivars.Prefabrication is a promising method for minimizing construction waste since it is conducted in a controlled environment. This paper develops a simulation model for quantitatively evaluating the potential of prefabrication on construction waste reduction by considering interaction behaviors among factors influencing the application of prefabrication and construction waste reduction during the design stage. The theory of planned behavior is applied to determine the system boundary, and a system dynamic model is applied for establishing the simulation model. A case project in Anhui, China, is selected for demonstrating the established model. Results show that the (1) Application of prefabrication method contributes to construction waste reduction by reducing material wastes and reworking due to design changes. (2) Impacts of prefabrication method on concrete waste reduction is the most significant. (3) Increasing investment on designers' professional training and strengthening policies is two efficient strategies to make full use of the potential of the prefabrication method on construction waste reduction during the design stage. The developed model can offer designers as well as policymakers with references for applying prefabrication method for construction waste reduction by comparing outcomes under various scenarios with different strategies and policies ahead of implementation.The residue derived from the alginate extraction from S. filipendula was applied for the biosorption of aluminum from aqueous medium. The adsorptive capacity of the residue (RES) was completely evaluated in batch mode. The effect of pH, contact time, initial concentration, and temperature was assessed through kinetic, equilibrium, and thermodynamic studies. The biosorbent was characterized prior and post-Al biosorption by N2 physisorption, Hg porosimetry, He pycnometry, and thermogravimetry analyses. Equilibrium was achieved in 60 min. Kinetics obeys pseudo-second-order model at aluminum higher concentrations. Isotherms followed Freundlich model at low temperature (293.15 K) and D-R or Langmuir model at higher temperatures (303 and 313 K). Data modeling indicated the occurrence of both chemical and physical interactions in the aluminum adsorption mechanism using RES. The maximum adsorption capacity obtained was 1.431 mmol/g at 293 K. The biosorption showed a spontaneous, favorable, and exotherm character. A simplified batch design was performed, indicating that the residue is a viable biosorbent, achieving high percentages of removal using low biomass dosage.Although Ahvaz is considered as one of the warmest cities around the world, few epidemiological studies have been conducted on the adverse effects of temperature on human health using thermal indices in this city. This study investigates the relation between physiologically equivalent temperature (PET) and respiratory hospital admissions in Ahvaz. Distributed lag non-linear models (DLNMs) combined with quasi-Poisson regression models were used to investigate the relation between PET and respiratory disease hospital admissions, adjusted for the effect of time trend, air pollutants (NO2, SO2, and PM10), and weekdays. The analysis was performed by utilizing R software. Low PET values significantly decreased the risk of hospital admissions for total respiratory diseases, respiratory diseases in men and women, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD), and bronchiectasis. However, low PET (16.9°C) in all lags except lag 0-30 significantly increased the risk of hospital admissions for asthma. The results indicate that in Ahvaz, which has a warm climate, cold weather decreased overall respiratory hospital admissions, except for asthma.
