Anisotropy in linear shrinkage after the sintering process was observed for the SS316L parts with the largest linear shrinkage in the Z direction. The Young's modulus and compression properties of 316L stainless steel parts decreased with increasing porosity and low Young's modulus values in the range of 2 GPa to 29 GPa were able to be achieved. The parts fabricated by using pure 316L stainless steel feedstock sintered at 1200 ○C with porosity of ~40% exhibited the maximum overall compressive properties with 0.2% compressive yield strength of 52.7 MPa, ultimate compressive strength of 520 MPa, fracture strain of 36.4%, and energy absorption of 116.7 MJ/m3, respectively. The Young's modulus and compression properties of the binder jetting processed 316L stainless steel parts were found to be on par with that of the conventionally processed porous 316L stainless steel parts and even surpassed those having similar porosities, and matched to that of the cancellous bone types.In this work, the elastic anisotropy, mechanical stability, and electronic properties for P42/mnm XN (XN = BN, AlN, GaN, and InN) and Pbca XN are researched based on density functional theory. Here, the XN in the P42/mnm and Pbca phases have a mechanic stability and dynamic stability. Compared with the Pnma phase and Pm-3n phase, the P42/mnm and Pbca phases have greater values of bulk modulus and shear modulus. The ratio of the bulk modulus (B), shear modulus (G), and Poisson's ratio (v) of XN in the P42/mnm and Pbca phases are smaller than those for Pnma XN and Pm-3n XN, and larger than those for c-XN, indicating that Pnma XN and Pm-3n XN are more ductile than P42/mnm XN and Pbca XN, and that c-XN is more brittle than P42/mnm XN and Pbca XN. In addition, in the Pbca phases, XN can be considered a semiconductor material, while in the P42/mnm phase, GaN and InN have direct band-gap, and BN and AlN are indirect wide band gap materials. The novel III-V nitride polymorphs in the P42/mnm and Pbca phases may have great potential for application in visible light detectors, ultraviolet detectors, infrared detectors, and light-emitting diodes.Through the mechanism of statutory interpretation, courts can narrow or widen the legal concept of animal cruelty. This finding was the result of the Court's applying a textual interpretation to the NSW Crimes Act, concluding that the appellant was simply exterminating a pest. Yet, animal law in NSW comprises more than legislation, extending to a raft of plans and strategies which provide background and context for regulation. This article argues that a contextual interpretation would have been more appropriate, leading to enquiries whether the dog was rightfully classified as a pest, as well as whether the law should have considered the manner in which the dog was killed. An equally relevant issue stems from the relationship between animal suffering and animal welfare, a connection which hinges on the ambit of anti-cruelty legislation. The latter permits a range of exceptions and defences that permit justification of cruelty, magnifying the chasm between animal suffering and animal welfare. This chasm is also not diminished by legal interpretations of cruelty that focus on whether killing is justified, while ignoring the method of killing.In domestic cats, the maturation, fertilization, and development potential in vitro decreases during the non-breeding season. This study aims at evaluating the efficacy of Brilliant Cresyl Blue (BCB) staining in selecting developmentally competent oocytes to be used in in vitro embryo production (IVEP) programs in order to overcome the season variability in blastocyst yield. Cumulus-oocytes complexes (COCs) collected from antral follicles of domestic cat ovaries during the anestrus phase (July to November) were selected by BCB staining and classified as BCB+ (colored cytoplasm) and BCB- (colorless cytoplasm). COCs not exposed to BCB staining were used as control. Before and after in vitro maturation mitochondrial activity and reactive oxygen species (ROS) were measured. Following in vitro fertilization, blastocyst rate, hatching rate, and blastocyst cell numbers were recorded. The results show that BCB staining did not alter the mitochondrial function and ROS production in cat oocytes. BCB+ oocytes presented a higher (p less then 0.05) blastocyst rate, hatching rate, and blastocyst cell number than BCB- and control oocytes. In conclusion, BCB staining does not affect the bioenergetic/oxidative status of the oocyte while being a useful tool for selecting good quality oocytes to increase IVEP in domestic cats during non-breeding season.A series of 4-phenylethnylphthalic anhydride (PEPA)-terminated oligoimides were prepared by co-oligomerizing isomeric dianhydrides, i.e., 2,3,3',4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (a-BPDA), 2,3,3',4'-benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride (a-BTDA) or 2,3,3',4'-diphenylethertetracarboxylic dianhydride (a-ODPA), with diamines mixture of bis(4-aminophenoxy)dimethyl silane (APDS) and 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl) benzidine (TFDB). The effects of siloxane content and dianhydride structure on the rheological properties of these oligoimides and thermal stability of the corresponding cured polyimide resins were investigated. The results indicated that the introduction of the siloxane structure improved the melt processability of the oligoimides, while the thermal stability of the cured polyimide resins reduced. The oligoimide derived from a-ODPA revealed better melt processability and melt stability due to the existence of a flexible dianhydride structure. The oligoimide PIS-O10 derived from a-ODPA gave the lowest minimum melt viscosity of 0.09 Pa·s at 333 °C and showed the excellent melt stability at 260 °C for 2 h with the melt viscosity in the range of 0.69-1.63 Pa·s. It is also noted that the thermal stability of these resins can be further enhanced by postcuring at 400-450 °C, which is attributed to the almost complete chemical crosslinking of the phenyethynyl combined with oxidative crosslinking of siloxane. The PIS-T10 and PIS-O10 resins that were based on a-BTDA and a-ODPA, respectively, even showed a glass transition temperature over 550 °C after postcuring at 450 °C for 1 h.The study aimed to evaluate the effect of 14-day vacuum aging on the volatile compounds (VOC) profile, oxidative profile, antioxidant enzymes activity, and sensory evaluation in the Longissimusthoracis muscle of foal meat under vacuum aging. The role of microbiota in Lynch syndrome (LS) is still under debate. We compared oral and fecal microbiota of LS saliva and stool samples with normal healthy controls (NHC).

Total DNA was purified from feces and saliva to amplify the V3-V4 region of the 16s rRNA gene. Sequences with a high-quality score and length >250 bp were used for taxonomic analysis with QIIME software.

Compared to NHC, LS fecal samples demonstrated a statistically significant increase of Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria and a significant decrease of Firmicutes at the phylum level and of Ruminococcaceae at the family level. Moreover, LS oral samples exhibited a statistically significant increase of Veillonellaceae and Leptotrichiaceae and a statistically significant decrease of Pasteurellaceae. A beta-diversity index allowed differentiation of the two groups.

The stress-strain curve showed that the hot deformation behavior of the Cu-0.55Sn-0.08La (wt.%) alloy was significantly affected by work hardening, dynamic recovery, and dynamic recrystallization. The activation energy Q was 261.649 kJ·mol-1 and hot compression constitutive equation was determined as ε=sinh0.00651σ10.2378∙exp33.6656-261.649RT. The microstructural evolution of the alloy during deformation at 400 °C revealed the presence of both slip and shear bands in the grains. At 700 °C, dynamic recrystallization grains were observed, but recrystallization was incomplete. In summary, these results provide the theoretical basis for the continuous extrusion process of alloys with promising application prospects in the future.A new potassium-based adsorbent for CO2 capture with Al aerogel used as support is proposed in this work. The adsorbents with different surface modifiers (tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and trimethyl chlorosilane (TMCS)) and different K2CO3 loadings (10%, 20%, 30% and 40%) were prepared by sol-gel and iso-volume impregnation processes with ambient pressure drying. The CO2 adsorption performance of the adsorbents were tested by a fixed-bed reactor, and their adsorption mechanisms were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF). Furthermore, the adsorption kinetics and the cycling performance were investigated. The results show that using TEOS to modify the wet gel can introduce SiO2 to increase the strength of the skeleton. On the basis of TEOS modification, TMCS can further modify -OH, thus effectively avoiding the destruction of aerogel structure during ambieney data for the application of Al aerogel in the field of potassium-based adsorbent for CO2 capture.Biofilm communities are tolerant to antimicrobials and difficult to eradicate. This study aimed to investigate the effect of melittin, an antimicrobial peptide, either alone or in combination with deoxyribonuclease (DNase), an inhibitor of extracellular deoxyribonucleic acid (eDNA), against Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) biofilms, and biofilm susceptibility to sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl). Biofilms of E. faecalis were developed in root canals of bovine teeth. The biofilms were treated with distilled water (control), melittin, DNase, or DNase+melittin. The antibiofilm effects of the treatments were analyzed using colony forming unit (CFU) assay, crystal violet staining, confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), and field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). The susceptibility of DNase+melittin-treated biofilms to NaOCl (0%, 2.5% and 5%) was investigated by the CFU assay. The data were statistically analyzed using one-way analysis of variance, followed by Tukey's test. A p-value of less then 0.
