Infertility is a major health problem that affects both the family and the community. Women receiving infertility treatment may suffer from stress and even experience sleep disturbance. Sleep quality is an important factor of human health and well-being. Sleep disturbances tend to occur among infertile women during in vitro fertilization treatment. Many studies have focused on the stress and sleep quality associated with their treatment in infertile women. However, few studies have investigated factors linked to their sleep disturbances.

This study investigated the relationship between perceived stress and sleep quality before oocyte pick-up, in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer, and pregnancy test in women receiving in vitro fertilization treatment.

Thisprospective, longitudinal study was conducted between January and May 2020. One hundred fifty-seven women receiving infertility treatment were included in the study. A personal information form, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used to collect data.

The relationship between the Perceived Stress Scale scores and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index scores in all stages of infertility treatment was found to be positively significant at the p < .001 significance level.

Perceived stress level was high in women throughout the infertility treatment. Our study suggested that sleep quality was impaired as stress increased.

JNK inhibitor datasheet Yet, there are few studies exploring how this concept may be understood outside of Western culture. JNK inhibitor datasheet This scoping review seeks to address this omission by focusing specifically on research conducted with Chinese populations. This is important because people from Chinese backgrounds (PBC) are now residing all over the world, and their spirituality and spiritual needs should be considered when providing healthcare. Adopting a purely generalist understanding and application of spirituality may not capture the cultural difference that exists between the East and West. This scoping review adopted Arksey and O'Malley's method to focus on spirituality and spiritual care among PBC in health and nursing. The systematic strategy was adopted and used to search the main databases in health and nursing. Eighteen (n = 18) empirical studies were included in the review 11 qualitative studies and seven quantitative involving 1870 participants. link2 The scoping review revealed that in the Chinese understanding of spirituality is an abstract and personal concept which can refer to an internal vital force, experiences of suffering, and traditional Chinese cultural and religious values. As the multidimensional understanding of spirituality and spiritual care may cause confusion, these findings may provide a direction for the researchers emphasising the need for cultural and religious sensitivity when understanding of spirituality. In this paper we review the impact of DSM-III and its successors on the field of autism-both in terms of clinical work and research. We summarize the events leading up to the inclusion of autism as a "new" official diagnostic category in DSM-III, the subsequent revisions of the DSM, and the impact of the official recognition of autism on research. We discuss the uses of categorical vs. dimensional approaches and the continuing tensions around broad vs. narrow views of autism. We also note some areas of current controversy and directions for the future.

Adolescent obesity is considered a public health challenge. Sleeve gastrectomy (SG) may be considered a safe option for treatment of adolescent obesity. This study aimed to assess the outcomes of SG in treatment of severe obesity in adolescents, with emphasis on the impact of baseline body mass index (BMI) and adherence to follow-up.

This was a single-center retrospective cohort study on adolescents with severe obesity who underwent SG at a tertiary referral bariatric center. The main outcome measures were weight loss, improvement in comorbidities at 12 months postoperatively, and complications.

A total of 72 adolescent patients (47 female) of a mean BMI of 47.9 ± 7.1 kg/푚

were enrolled in the study. The mean %TWL was 34.94 ± 9.35 and the mean %EWL was 73.47 ± 22.12. Complete remission was recorded in all patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), pre-DM, and sleep apnea, in 80% of patients with hypertension, and 57% of patients with hypothyroidism. The long-term complication rate after SG was 18%. Patients with higher preoperative BMI had significantly (p = 0.018) lower %EWL at 1 year.

SG is an effective and safe surgical procedure for adolescents with severe obesity. It was associated with a significant weight loss, high comorbidity remission rates, and no mortality or serious complications. Lower baseline BMI and better adherence to follow-up were associated with better outcome of SG.

Postprandial hypoglycemia after bariatric surgery is an exigent disorder, often impacting the quality of life. Distinguishing clinically relevant hypoglycemic episodes from symptoms of other origin can be challenging. JNK inhibitor datasheet Diagnosis is demanding and often requires an extensive testing such as prolonged glucose tolerance or mixed-meal test. Therefore, we investigated whether baseline parameters of patients after gastric bypass with suspected hypoglycemia can predict the diagnosis.

We analyzed data from 35 patients after gastric bypass with suspected postprandial hypoglycemia and performed a standardized mixed-meal test. Hypoglycemia was defined by the appearance of typical symptoms, low plasma glucose, and relief of symptoms following glucose administration. link2 Parameters that differed in patients with and without hypoglycemia during MMT were identified and evaluated for predictive precision using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) areas under the curve (AUC).

Out of 35 patients, 19 (54%) developed symptomapatients requiring further evaluation.

Micronutrient deficiencies are frequently reported after sleeve gastrectomy (SG), and therefore lifelong daily multivitamin supplementation is highly recommended. Based on literature and the results of a previous randomized controlled trial, a specialized multivitamin supplement for SG patients was further optimized (WLS Optimum 2.0, FitForMe). The present study reports on its short-term effectiveness.

An open-label study was performed in which 76 patients were included to receive WLS Optimum 2.0 for 12 months (Opt 2.0 group). link3 This group was compared with a group of 75 patients that had received WLS Optimum 1.0 for 12 months during a previous study (Opt 1.0 group).

Intention-to-treat analysis (Opt 1.0, n = 69; Opt 2.0, n = 75) showed higher serum levels of vitamin B12, vitamin B6, and zinc, and a lower prevalence of deficiencies for vitamin B12 and phosphate in the Opt 2.0 group. link2 link3 MCV and serum folic acid levels were higher in the Opt 1.0 group. Over the 12-month study period, mean increase in serum levels of phosphate, vitamin B6, and zinc was higher in the Opt 2.0 group, and MCV and serum vitamin D levels increased more in the Opt 1.0 group.

The present study showed that the use of a specialized multivitamin supplement for SG patients is effective at preventing deficiencies for most vitamins and minerals, specifically in compliant patients. However, a strict follow-up regime remains necessary to monitor nutritional status and to improve patient compliance.

Bariatric surgery is an effective treatment for obesity with new procedures emerging. However, despite comparable weight loss and improvements in metabolic outcomes, research on nutritional and gastrointestinal symptoms remains limited. Here we compare clinical data on weight, nutritional disorders and gastrointestinal symptoms of patients before and following one anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) and Roux-en-Y gastric Bypass (RYGB).

In this retrospective study, data on anthropometry, nutritional indices, dietary intake and gastrointestinal symptoms were retrieved in cohorts of patients up to 2 years following OAGB and RYGB.

Seventy-three patients had either a RYGB (28) or an OAGB (45), with 71% seeking these as a revisional procedure. Significant and higher weight loss was observed in the OAGB cohort at 1 year (%TWL 33.0 ± 8.5 vs. 26.6 ± 12.4), albeit comparable at 2 years postoperatively (%TWL 29.0 ± 11.1 vs. 34.1 ± 11.2). Disorders such as vitamin D, active B12, folate, homocystein (Hcy) and hyperparonsequences. Prospective and longer-term studies investigating the nutritional and gastrointestinal health of patients undergoing OAGB is recommended.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the results of using a lateral hinged external fixator as an adjunct stabilizer in the treatment of a variety of acute destabilizing elbow injuries.

A retrospective review was performed on the medical records of patients in whom a lateral monolateral elbow hinged external fixator was applied by the senior author. The indication to apply the fixator corresponded to a variety of acute injury patterns ranging from simple elbow trauma or dislocation to complex fracture-dislocation, and the decision was based on either the presence of recurrent or persistent instability in any direction and/or to secure a vulnerable or weak bony fixation or soft tissue repair as intra-operatively judged by the surgeon. The fixator was inserted in the same setting after the repair of the associated ligamentous and/or bony structures. Patients operated after one month of the trauma and those presented with open elbow injury or associated humeral or ulnar shaft fracture were excluded. link3 Reha with six excellent, six good, and one fair result. All patients had a concentrically reduced and stable elbow as assessed clinically and radiologically with a mean functional arc of motion of 132° for extension-flexion and 178° for pronation-supination.

The hinged elbow external fixator represents a valuable adjunct in the therapeutic arsenal for the treatment of unstable elbows after bony and soft tissue repair. It provides satisfactory results in terms of stability and function and should be available in the operating room when a surgeon treats a complex elbow dislocation or fracture-dislocation.
