Ceftolozane/tazobactam (C/T) is a β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combination that mainly targets Gram-negative bacteria. The current international guidelines recommend including C/T treatment in the empirical therapy for hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP).

We analyzed 2017 HIV pol sequences (728 Lake Victoria fisherfolk communities (FFCs), 592 female sex workers (FSWs) and 697 general population (GP)) to identify transmission networks on Maximum Likelihood (ML) phylogenetic trees and refined them using time-resolved phylogenies. Network generative models were fitted to the observed degree distributions and network parameters, and corrected Akaike Information Criteria and Bayesian Information Criteria values were estimated. 347 (17.2%) HIV sequences were linked on ML trees (maximum genetic distance ≤4.5%, ≥95% bootstrap support) and, of these, 303 (86.7%) that consisted of pure A1 (n = 168) and D (n = 135) subtypes were analyzed in BEAST v1.8.4. The majority of networks (at least 40%) were found at a time depth of ≤5 years. Establishing a diagnosis of IIHWOP can be challenging, as often lumbar puncture is not routinely part of the work-up for refractory headaches. There are published diagnostic criteria for IIHWOP; however, some report uncertainty regarding a pathologically acceptable cut off for a raised lumbar puncture opening pressure, which is a key criterion. A non-randomised 6 week intervention study was administered. Thirteen male multidirectional sport athletes formed the intervention group (IG), participating in two COD speed and technique modification sessions per week. A total of 12 male multidirectional sport athletes formed the control group (CG). All subjects performed six modified 505 trials, whereby pre-to-post-intervention biomechanical changes were evaluated using three-dimensional motion analysis. Two-way mixed analysis of variances revealed significant interaction effects (group × time) for completion time, mean horizontal propulsive force (HPF), horizontal to vertical mean braking and propulsive force ratios for the penultimate (PFC) and final foot contact (FFC), FFC peak knee flexion and PFC hip flexion angle (p ≤ 0.040, η2 = 0.170-0.417). Corrective surgery was performed after 10 weeks, and a 5 × 3 mm large part of the Shark Screw® with the surrounding patient's bone was removed. A histological evaluation revealed a vascularized graft with the newly formed compact lamellar bone fitting exactly to the cortical graft. The bone surface was lined by plump osteoblasts with osteoid production, and osteocytes were present in the lacunae. The arthrodesis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint using an allogenic cortical bone graft results in fast, primary bone healing without immunological rejection. This case suggests that the cortical allograft is a good and safe treatment option with an excellent graft incorporation into the host bone.
