Quantitative volumetric segmentation of gliomas has important implications for diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis. We present a deep-learning model that accommodates automated preoperative and postoperative glioma segmentation with a pipeline for clinical implementation. Developed and engineered in concert, the work seeks to accelerate clinical realization of such tools.
A deep learning model, autoencoder regularization-cascaded anisotropic, was developed, trained, and tested fusing key elements of autoencoder regularization with a cascaded anisotropic convolutional neural network. We constructed a dataset consisting of 437 cases with 40 cases reserved as a held-out test and the remainder split 8020 for training and validation. We performed data augmentation and hyperparameter optimization and used a mean Dice score to evaluate against baseline models. To facilitate clinical adoption, we developed the model with an end-to-end pipeline including routing, preprocessing, and end-user interaction.
The autodvantages of building a coordinated model with a clinical pipeline for the rapid and accurate deep learning segmentation of both preoperative and postoperative gliomas. The ability of the model to accommodate cases of postoperative glioma is clinically important for follow-up. Swedish strategies to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 seem to have had an impact on pertussis incidence in infants.
There is an urgent public need to readdress the school closure strategies. We aimed to describe the epidemiology of COVID-19 in schools and school-aged children to understand their roles in transmitting SARS-CoV-2 in Korea.

Between February and December 2020, the incidence rate was lower among school-aged children (63.2-79.8 per 100 000) compared with adults aged 19 and above (130.4 per 100 000). Household was the main route of transmission (62.3%), followed by community (21.3%) and school clusters (7.9%). Among the schools in Korea, 52% of secondary schools had COVID-19 cases, followed by 39% of primary schools and 3% of kindergartens.
We found that schools and school-aged children aged 7-18 years were not the main drivers of COVID-19 transmission. The major sources of transmission were households.

Tranexamic acid is used to prevent hyperfibrinolysis and reduce postoperative bleeding and blood transfusions in on-pump cardiac surgery. We evaluate the efficacy of low or high dose tranexamic acid in a prospective cohort study conducted in Valencia.
A total of 427 patients were recruited between January 2019 and January 2020, 207 in the Hospital General Universitario (low dose [LD]) and 220 in the Hospital Universitario y Politécnico La Fe (high dose [HD] and intermediate dose [ID]). We recorded the presence of hyperfibrinolysis on rotational thromboelastometry, intra- and postoperative administration of blood products, chest tube output within the first 12 h, and incidence of convulsions. Univariate and multivariate comparisons were performed. Univariate analysis of all categories was performed after propensity score matching between LD and HD and between LD and ID.
There were no statistically significant differences in appearance of hyperfibrinolysis, administration of blood products, postoperative chest tube output within the first 12 h, or occurrence of convulsions. Group LD received less fibrinogen than group HD (P = .014) and ID (P = .040) but more fresh frozen plasma than group ID (P = .0002).

About 0.2-6.1% of newborns in the developed world have been conceived by assisted reproductive techniques (ART). Higher rate of major and minor malformations have been described in this population, but the multiple possible confounders associated make it difficult to establish a direct causal relationship and the specific factors involved.
To determine the risk of these malformations in our population, a collaborative prospective controlled cohort study was designed. We collected the specific ART-data related to the clinical gestation of women treated in a period of 2 years in the Reproduction Unit from a Spanish public tertiary-level hospital. 231 out of 267 newborns of these gestation (88%) participated in the study and were assessed by a pediatrician with expertise in Clinical Genetics and Dysmorphology at 12-20 and 26-40 months of age. At the same time a controlled group of children naturally conceived (NC) was selected according to the following criteria the next NC newborn belonging to the same grouons detected, there were no differences between groups. Thus, our results suggest that ART may affect the normal embryonic development but in a milder way than other confounding factors do. The facial phenotype identified has not previously been described, either the higher risk of capillary malformations and pigmentary lesions. More studies are needed to confirm this association.Specialized paediatric and neonatal transport is a useful and essential resource in the interhospital transfer of these patients. It allows bringing the material and personal resources of an intensive care unit closer to the regional hospitals where the patient can be found. The benefits of these teams are very well demonstrated in the literature. These units should be part of the emergency systems, while it would be recommended that they be staff integrated in the tertiary hospitals, in order to maintain the necessary skills and competencies. The team, made up of physicians, nurses and emergency medical technicians, must master both the pathophysiology of transport and that of the critical patient in this age range. A high quality of both human and care is important, so continuous training and periodic recycling will be essential to be compliant with the quality indicators in transport. Likewise, it is essential to have specific vehicles adapted to this function, which allow carrying the wide variety of necessary material, as well as the electromedicine that is required. However, in Spain this paediatric and neonatal transport model is not standardized and therefore is not homogeneous there are different models that do not always provide adequate quality, making it necessary to implement specialized units throughout the country to guarantee sanitary transport quality to any critical child or neonate.
This study evaluated the efficacy of virtual classroom training (VCT) in comparison to face-to-face training (FFT) and non-interactive computer-based learning (CBL) for basic surgical skills training.
This was a parallel-group, non-inferiority, prospective randomised controlled trial with three intervention groups conducted in 2021. There were three intervention groups with allocation ratio 111. Outcome adjudicators were blinded to intervention assignment. Interventions consisted of 90-minute training sessions. VCT was delivered via the BARCO weConnect platform, FFT was provided in-person by expert instructors and CBL was carried out by participants independently. The primary outcome was post-intervention Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills score, adjudicated by two experts and adjusted for baseline proficiency. The assessed task was to place three interrupted sutures with hand-tied knots.

Positive attitude of nurses toward patient safety can play a major role in increasing the quality of nursing care and reducing missed nursing care. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the Attitude of Nurses Toward Patient Safety and missed nursing care.
This study was conducted in 2021 at the hospitals of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences (Iran). In the present study, 351 nurses were included in the study by using a stratified random sampling method. Data collection tools were demographic questionnaire, missed nursing care questionnaire, and patient safety attitudes questionnaire. Missed Nursing Care Questionnaire includes 24 items, such as patient movement, rotation, evaluation, training, discharge planning, medication prescription, scored on a 4-point Likert scale ranging from score 1 (I miss rarely), score 2 (I miss occasionally), score 3 (I miss usually), and score 4 (I miss always). The highest score is 96 and the lowest score is 24 on this scale. A higher score indicatto reduce missed nursing care and improve the quality of healthcare.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had significant impact on clinical radiography educational activities including teaching, research, and clinical placement. The study aimed to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on clinical radiography education in a low-resource setting from the perspectives of students and educators.
A cross-sectional online survey was conducted between December 2020 and March 2021. Participants included student radiographers and educators from six clinical radiography training institutions in Ghana. Conventional descriptive statistics, frequency, and thematic text analysis were undertaken.
291 valid responses were received involving 277 students and 14 educators. Most of the respondents, predominantly students did not find the online platforms for learning user-friendly. Key challenges to clinical radiography training during the pandemic included poor internet connectivity (73.8%), inadequate time for academic discussions (50.9%), and the reluctance of health facilities to accept students for clinical placement (51%). Challenges with data collection and the provision of supervision were issues associated with research activities.
The findings suggest the COVID-19 pandemic has had significant impact on clinical radiography education in Ghana and other countries of similar resource availability.
Clinical radiography training institutions need to customize approaches to education. Adopting blended learning approaches as well as the use of simulation to augment practical placement opportunities are new modes of instruction that will maximize learning experience.
