Scutellarin, an active flavone extracted from Erigeron breviscapus, is known to exhibit antitumour activity in many cancers. However, the effects of Scutellarin on osteosarcoma remain unclear. In this study, we found that Scutellarin suppressed osteosarcoma cell growth, induced cell apoptosis and inhibited tumorigenesis. Mechanistically, our data revealed that EGR1 was significantly increased under Scutellarin treatment. Increased EGR1 enhanced tumour-suppressive effects of Scutellarin on osteosarcoma cells via transcriptionally downregulating LINC00857 expression. Additionally, we found that LINC00857 acted as a competitive endogenous RNA of miR-150-5p and inhibited the activity of miR-150-5p, which resulted in c-Myc increase. Scutellarin could suppress c-Myc protein levels through decreasing LINC00857 expression in osteosarcoma. Thus, these findings demonstrate that EGR1/ LINC00857/miR-150-5p/c-Myc axis plays a key role in promoting anticancer effects of Scutellarin and Scutellarin might have potential clinical implication in osteosarcoma clinical treatment.Liquid marbles are nonsticking droplets wrapped with hydrophobic nano- to micrometer particles and are expected to be useful for various applications, especially in industrial and biomedical fields. However, the practical use of liquid marbles is limited by their fragility. In this study, the dynamics of particle monolayer-stabilized liquid marble breakage upon impacting a solid surface are monitored in situ by high-speed interfacial microscopy. The experiments show that the breakage of liquid marbles can be induced by either i) cracking or ii) water penetration depending on the impact energy. The applicable scenario is determined by whether a jamming transition of the wrapping particles occurs during impact. The breakage mechanisms provide insights on how to improve the robustness of liquid marbles in accordance with these scenarios.Using renewable electricity to drive CO2 electroreduction is an attractive way to achieve carbon-neutral energy cycle and produce value-added chemicals and fuels. As an important platform molecule and clean fuel, methanol requires 6-electron transfer in the process of CO2 reduction. Currently, CO2 electroreduction to methanol suffers from poor efficiency and low selectivity. Herein, we report the first work to design atomically dispersed Sn site anchored on defective CuO catalysts for CO2 electroreduction to methanol. It exhibits high methanol Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 88.6 % with a current density of 67.0 mA cm-2 and remarkable stability in a H-cell, which is the highest FE(methanol) with such high current density compared with the results reported to date. The atomic Sn site, adjacent oxygen vacancy and CuO support cooperate very well, leading to higher double-layer capacitance, larger CO2 adsorption capacity and lower interfacial charge transfer resistance. Operando experiments and density functional theory calculations demonstrate that the catalyst is beneficial for CO2 activation via decreasing the energy barrier of *COOH dissociation to form *CO. The obtained key intermediate *CO is then bound to the Cu species for further reduction, leading to high selectivity toward methanol.

To describe the variability of allied health services on weekends, relative to weekdays, throughout Australian and New Zealand hospitals.

A prospective, cross-sectional observational study embedded within a cluster randomised control trial. Allied health managers provided administrative data relating to allied health service events.

In one month, there were a total of 243549 allied health service events recorded from 91 sampled hospitals. The mean difference between weekday and weekend allied health service events (daily, per ward) for physiotherapy was 6.52 (95% CI 5.65 to 7.40), acute wards 12.03 (95% CI 10.25 to 13.82) and for metropolitan hospitals 14.47 (95% CI 12.22 to 16.73), revealing more allied health service events of longer duration on weekdays compared to weekends.

This research is the first of its kind to describe variation in allied health service provision and potential research to practice gaps across weekday and weekend days in various inpatient settings.Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are epithelial neoplasms with predominant neuroendocrine differentiation that arise in most organs of the body. Mediastinal NETs are very rare, and account for no more than 5% of all mediastinal tumors. R0 surgery represents the milestone of treatment. Here, we describe a case of a locally advanced primary atypical carcinoid of the mediastinum. This was initially considered inoperable due to infiltration of a great vessel and was successfully resected after neoadjuvant treatment as a result of very extensive surgery. Only through an accurate preoperative diagnosis and good radiological planning is it possible to obtain satisfactory oncological results.

HAE leads to significant morbidity and mortality from unpredictable intermittent peripheral, abdominal and laryngeal swelling. Access to appropriate healthcare and effective therapies which can prevent and treat attacks, reduce the suffering and greatly improve quality of life. Although treatments such as C1 inhibitor (Berinert®), and Icatibant® are available in New Zealand (Aotearoa), there is no published data available on their use.

This study presents a national audit of Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) and Acquired Angioedema (AAE) in 2019.

The total number of known adult (48) and children (3) HAE and Acquired Angioedema (3) patients is 54. Of these, 41/ 54 (75%) of HAE and AAE patients were recruited to the audit. Icatibant® has been available for treatment of acute HAE attacks since 2016, and is now used in 73% of HAE patients. Icatibant® is also used by patients for laryngeal attacks in the community, who may not then present to hospital. Androgens are used in half of the patients as prophylaxis but 33% of the latter were identified as not having regular liver ultrasound screening. Tranexamic acid is used as prophylaxis in one fifth of patients. Participants have had 40 children, half of whom may be affected. Three have been diagnosed with HAE, suggesting that the majority have not yet been tested.

Endothelial dysfunction (ED) is a strong predictor for most CVD making it a therapeutic target for both drug and nutrition interventions. It has been previously shown that polyphenols from wine and grape extracts possess vasodilator activities, due to the increased expression and phosphorylation of the endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), and consequent vasodilator nitric oxide (NO) production. This is vital in the prevention of ED, as NO production contributes to the maintenance of endothelial homeostasis. Moreover, polyphenols have the ability to inhibit reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can cause oxidative stress, as well as suppress the upregulation of inflammatory markers within the endothelium. However, while the majority of the research has focused on red wine, this has overshadowed the potential of other nutritional components for targeting ED, such as the use of berries. Berries are high in anthocyanin flavonoids a subtype of polyphenols with studies suggesting improved vascular function as a result of inducing NO production and reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. This review focuses on the protective effects of berries within the vasculature.A single-atom Pt1 /CeO2 catalyst formed by atom trapping (AT, 800 °C in air) shows excellent thermal stability but is inactive for CO oxidation at low temperatures owing to over-stabilization of Pt2+ in a highly symmetric square-planar Pt1 O4 coordination environment. Reductive activation to form Pt nanoparticles (NPs) results in enhanced activity; however, the NPs are easily oxidized, leading to drastic activity loss. Herein we show that tailoring the local environment of isolated Pt2+ by thermal-shock (TS) synthesis leads to a highly active and thermally stable Pt1 /CeO2 catalyst. We expand the phenotype associated with KIF4A variants from developmental delay and intellectual disability with or without epilepsy to a congenital anomaly phenotype with hydrocephalus and various brain anomalies at the more severe end of phenotypic manifestations. Additional anomalies of the kidneys and urinary tract, congenital lymphedema, eye, and dental anomalies seem to be variably associated and overlap with clinical signs observed in other kinesinopathies. Caution still applies to missense variants, but hopefully, future work will further establish genotype-phenotype correlations in a larger number of patients and functional studies may give further insights into the complex function of KIF4A.A diazirine-based four-armed cross-linker (4CNN) with a tetrahedron geometry is presented for efficient patterning of polymeric semiconductors by photo-induced carbene insertion. After blending of 4CNN with no more than 3 % (w/w), photo-patterning of p-, n-, and ambipolar semiconducting polymers with side alkyl chains was achieved; regular patterns with size as small as 5 μm were prepared with appropriate photomasks after 365 nm irradiation for just 40 s. The interchain packing order and the thin film morphology were nearly unaltered after the cross-linking and the semiconducting properties of the patterned thin films were mostly retained. A complementary-like inverter with a gain value of 112 was constructed easily by two steps of photo-patterning of the p-type and n-type semiconducting polymers. The results show that 4CNN is a new generation of cross-linker for the photo-patterning of polymeric semiconductors for all-solution-processible flexible electronic devices.
