4 to 91.7% (P = 1). Two patients (5.5%) had AE and 11 (30.5%) a LOR. At univariate analysis, patients with a single switch had a non-significant risk of LOR during SB2 [odds ratio (OR) = 7.86; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.87-71, P = 0.06]. SB2-LOR was associated with previous AE under CT-P13 (OR = 9.1, 95% CI 0.82-100, P = 0.07). None of such factors was significant at multivariate analysis.

Switching from CT-P13 to SB2 seems to be safe and effective either in patients with a single than in those with multiple switches.

Nonetheless, it has the capability of stimulating expression of asparagine synthetase (ASNS) through activating transcription factor 5, and many other genes involved in the stress reaction in the skeletal muscle of pigs according to published scientific articles. Because overexpression of ASNS has been detected as a key player in amino acid response and unfolded protein response during the development of not a few malignant diseases, especially those with KRAS mutations, and found to be closely related to tumor proliferation, invasion and metastasis, it seems reasonable to hypothesize that intake of ractopamine residue in meat might bring negative effects to cancer patients.

Next to the obvious benefits of tobacco-use cessation, lung cancer screening using low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scans has been proposed as a means to lower lung cancer burden. Achieving an impact of any cancer screening program on cancer-specific mortality largely depends on the uptake. The aim of this study was to estimate the acceptability and intention to participate in a lung cancer screening program among Belgian current or former smokers.

A cross-sectional online survey was carried out among adults from the Belgian population. Sampling took place within an existing online panel.

In total, 83.6% of all respondents (n = 2727), including current or former smokers and never smokers, believed that offering lung cancer screening to current or former smokers is a good idea. 84.3% of all current or former smokers (n = 1534) answered that they would likely or very likely participate in a screening program for lung cancer. The majority of current smokers that were willing to be screened said they would also want to receive tobacco-use cessation counseling in parallel with screening (71.8%; n = 486), whereas 9% (n = 61) would decline.

These findings suggest that a Belgian lung cancer screening program would be acceptable and could be well-attended by current or former smokers. Further research should focus on how smokers can be best reached to propose screening, and how tobacco-use cessation counseling can be successfully integrated in a lung cancer screening program.

Cigarette smoking is related to higher levels of circulating androgens, but its association with androgen receptor (AR) status is still unaddressed.

We analysed, with a case-only approach, smoking habits according to AR status in 112 cases of invasive female breast cancer, from the Piedmont Cancer Registry. We used a multivariate logistic regression model to estimate the odds ratio (OR) and the corresponding confidence interval (CI).

The OR of AR-positive breast cancer (versus AR-negative) for ever smokers (versus never) was 2.85 (95% CI 1.02-7.96).

Smoking is related to AR-positive breast cancer.

Gastric premalignant conditions (GPC) surveillance has been proposed to improve the prognosis of gastric cancer (GC), but the early GC detection rate remaining low, and missing GC during an esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy is still a problem. We aimed to explore the gastroenterologists' attitudes on the detection and management of GPC.

A cross-sectional study was designed based on a survey among gastroenterologists from Asociación Española de Gastroenterología.

The participation rate was 12% (146/1243). Eighty-one percent worked at secondary or tertiary-care hospitals with the capability to perform mucosectomy (80%), but with a lesser availability of endoscopic submucosal dissection (35%). Most respondents had high-definition endoscopes (88%), and virtual chromoendoscopy (86%), but during performing an upper endoscopy, 34% never or rarely use chromoendoscopy, and 73% apply a biopsy protocol often/very often when atrophy or intestinal metaplasia (IM) is suspected. Half of the respondents self-reported their low an improvement in the GPC detection, needs also to be generalized.

Previous studies showed that high calcium intake may be associated with the reduced colorectal cancer (CRC) risk, but results were inconclusive. In this study, we evaluated whether calcium intake from diet and supplements, as well as the calcium levels itself, were associated with the CRC risk in middle-aged and older individuals. Also, we evaluated whether these associations were modified by genetic variation of calcium homeostasis.

This study was embedded in the Rotterdam study, a prospective cohort study among adults aged 55 years and older without CRC at baseline, from the Ommoord district of Rotterdam, The Netherlands (N = 10 941). Effect modification by a predefined polygenetic risk score (PRS) from seven loci known to be associated with calcium concentrations, was evaluated.

The incidence rate of CRC in the study population was 2.9 per 1000 person-years. Relative to the recommended dietary calcium intake, only higher than the recommended dietary calcium intake (≥1485 mg/day) was associated with a concentrations that deserves further replication in other studies with different population. We aimed to assess the impact of the first three rounds of the National Colorectal Cancer Screening Program (NCCSP) on CRC incidence and mortality in Slovenia. In NCCSP, we use two fecal immune tests (FITs) and if test is positive patient is referred to colonoscopy. From 2009, we invite Slovenian residents aged 50-69 years, one screening round takes 2 years. The response rate was from 56.9 to 59.9%. FIT was positive in 6.0-6.2% (more in older patients and in men; P 51.3% (more in men; P  less then  0.01). In NCCSP, 70.3% of all cancers diagnosed were in stages I and II, while 20.7% of all CRC were found in polyps resected during colonoscopies. Patients with positive first FIT have odds ratio 2.19 [95% confidence interval (CI), 2.06-2.32] for advanced neoplasia and cancer compared to patients with two negative FITs. The incidence rate for CRC has dropped significantly after 6 years in population and in men (P  less then  0.01) but not in women. Five-year CRC survival was 31.3% higher if cancer was diagnosed in NCCSP (P  less then  0.05). After 6 years of NCCSP, the incidence rate for CRC has dropped significantly (P  less then  0.01). Hazard ratio for death from CRC was 3.84 higher (95% CI, 3.36-4.40; P  less then  0.001) in patients with cancer detected outside the program.Gastric cancer is the fifth most common cancer worldwide. Investigations of lifestyle factors such as physical activity may identify risk patterns in this population. Thus, the aim of this study was to analyze the level of habitual physical activity and its association with the risk of gastric adenocarcinoma in the Amazon region. We conducted a hospital-based case-control study. Questionnaires investigating sociodemographic characteristics and physical activity were applied between July 2017 and April 2019. To assess habitual physical activity, we used the Baecke Physical Activity Questionnaire, which assessed physical exercise (PE), occupational physical activity, and leisure and locomotion activity (LLA). The Chi-square association test was applied and univariate and multiple binary logistic regression models were used for odds ratio analysis. The descriptive level of 5% (P less then 0.05) was selected for statistical significance. The sample consisted of 297 individuals, with 147 cases and 150 controls. Those who performed PE at the second percentile level for 5 years before the interview were 71% less likely to develop gastric cancer (P = 0.012). Individuals with the highest LLA levels during the preceding 10 and 15 years were 76 and 78% less likely to have gastric cancer, respectively. In this study, physical activity related to sport and to leisure and locomotion was an independent protective factor that was inversely associated with gastric cancer.

For children to understand the emotional behavior of others, the first two steps involve emotion encoding and emotion interpreting, according to the Social Information Processing model. Access to daily social interactions is prerequisite to a child acquiring these skills, and barriers to communication such as hearing loss impede this access. Therefore, it could be challenging for children with hearing loss to develop these two skills. The present study aimed to understand the effect of prelingual hearing loss on children's emotion understanding, by examining how they encode and interpret nonverbal emotional cues in dynamic social situations.

Sixty deaf or hard-of-hearing (DHH) children and 71 typically hearing (TH) children (3-10 years old, mean age 6.2 years, 54% girls) watched videos of prototypical social interactions between a target person and an interaction partner. At the end of each video, the target person did not face the camera, rendering their facial expressions out of view to participants. Afate when interpreting emotions than their TH peers (b = -0.13, p = 0.005), and their lower scores were associated with their distinctive encoding pattern.

The findings suggest that children with limited auditory access to the social environment tend to collect visually observable information to compensate for ambiguous emotional cues in social situations. These children may have developed this strategy to support their daily communication. Yet, to fully benefit from such a strategy, these children may need extra support for gaining better social-emotional knowledge.

Electrocochleography (ECochG), obtained before the insertion of a cochlear implant (CI) array, provides a measure of residual cochlear function that accounts for a substantial portion of variability in postoperative speech perception outcomes in adults. It is postulated that subsequent surgical factors represent independent sources of variance in outcomes. Prior work has demonstrated a positive correlation between angular insertion depth (AID) of straight arrays and speech perception under the CI-alone condition, with an inverse relationship observed for precurved arrays. The purpose of the present study was to determine the combined effects of ECochG, AID, and array design on speech perception outcomes.

Participants were 50 postlingually deafened adult CI recipients who received one of three straight arrays (MED-EL Flex24, MED-EL Flex28, and MED-EL Standard) and two precurved arrays (Cochlear Contour Advance and Advanced Bionics HiFocus Mid-Scala). Residual cochlear function was determined by the intraoperative ECochG total response (TR) measured before array insertion, which is the sum of magnitudes of spectral components in response to tones of different stimulus frequencies across the speech spectrum.
