When authorised emergency agencies need to send you an alert about a serious threat, they can use the Emergency Mobile Alert system. It uses cell broadcast technology to make sure that everyone in the affected area has the message on their phones.

You will get an opt-in Test Message on the day of an emergency to tell you if you can receive Emergency Mobile Alerts, and how you can follow the alert. The message will give you details of the type and time of the alert, the agency issuing it, and what action to take.
